I think the software is replacing quoted images with links to minimize the size of your reply.
If you (and everyone else) quotes a post with 10 large images, viewers have to do major...

5yrs ago I would have said the same thing… of recent, not so much.
It seems like a real craps shoot lately… and yes, there doesn’t seem to be a fail safe option.
