Default So far one running

So far one running locomotive (new) and about 16 pieces of rolling stock. Working on getting my layout table top and mainline down before I even think of buying more lol. So I have nothing to brag about yet

Default I currently have 14 locos

I currently have 14 locos (all DCC equipped) with a schedule of 41 as I have the money to purchase them. As far as cars go, most of mine are boxed up uncounted, but I'd estimate around 50-80.Trains are like legos... there is no such thing as "too many".- Bronman

Default I do not know how many locos

I do not know how many locos or cars are in my collection, never counted them.My layout, locos and cars are in storage until I locate another house that will accommodate my layout, however in the last few months I have acquired 2 Athearn Challengers, a O-6-0 and about 18 cars while working out of town.

Default Not enough, but more that will fit on the layout

9 DCC locos and about 50 pieces of rolling stock. That's really more than my little testbed layout can comfortably hold, but I'm always looking for more, for whenever I get to build the big one....

Default How many in your fleet

9 locomotives and 24 freight cars [ not counting cabooses]. A little heavy on the power, right? I have a 3'0 x 7'8 layout.

Default How many in your fleet

Now you made me go and do an inventory.... Locos: 2 Katos, 1 SD70Mac and 1 SD40-2 with at least two more to buy seeing I plan to run 4 trains at once.
35 pcs. of rolling stock: Lumber train: (6) Red Caboose Hamptom Lumber CenterbeamsCoal train: (10) WEPX Coalporters (8 Kato, 2 Atlas) and (1) BN 50 Ton two bay hopper (Roco) Grain train: (1) SHPX ACF Centerflow, (1) AGP, (4) BN 2893 hoppers, (2) ADM 5150S? and (1) 50' BN tank car Intermodal: (3-car set) of Kato Gunderson Maxi-IV, (1) BN Double Stacks, (3) CSX Husky Stacks, (1) BNSF TOFC, (1) Pennsy Flat car with 2 TEUs (20' Containers) I'm sure there will be more rolling stock in the future, but that's it for now. It's enough to run 4 unit trains, or I can mix it up and have the mixed trains do runs between origins, destinations and the classifiaction yard.

Default How Many in Your Fleet?

Since you asked:

The Tickford Valley Railway Co (London) Ltd has the following equipment currently on its books:

Steam locomotives: 6
Diesel-electric locomotives: 2 (plus 1 under lease from the NZ Govt. Railways Dept)
Passenger Cars:1 Ac Car (Combine equivalent)
1 Passenger car (Coach equivalent)
Guards Van's: 2
Box Cars (All classes):15
Hi-side Wagons (All classes): 12
Flat - deck Wagons (All Classes):10

The quantities listed are as of 29 July 2007, and is likely to change as old rolling stock is retired and new wagons are bought into the system.

In respect of knowing how many wagons are required:This was carefully caluculated, based on likely traffic patterns and with the ultimate intention of having a specific number of hi-side/box/flat-deck wagons and a specific number of passenger vehicles as well. The number of steam locomotives still in use is a reflection of TVR policy of retiring steam power only as Boiler Certificates expire, and is in accordance with NZ Government Marine Department directives.

Hope this is of interest.

Default 875 freight cars, about 240

875 freight cars, about 240 of which are Coal hoppers...I model BN, and thinking of doing the BN Powder River Basin...That and 175+ cover hoppers for grain service, so multiple unit trains... 12 Amtrak cars9 passenger cars for my BN Business train76 locos, about half DCC, the rest when I decide to start doing them98 pieces of intermodal loads, aka, containers and trailersAnd I know all this because I have an excel spread sheet that I update whenever I get a new piece of rolling stock. And having a large collection is easy when you've been in a hobby or scale for a few years. But I still lack a layout.
