    Default Bellevue Ohio

Took the lil guy with me to Bellevue today to the Mad River and Nickel Plate Museum! It was a great last day of fun for me as I finally start back work on Monday. Its been a long year and 3 month layoff. We had a lot of fun, despite the heat, humidity, and threat of storms. A lot of action. There will be a set of 6 highlight pics.

    Report:
We got caught inbetween two crossings (there was plenty of road) by a NS freight with SD40-2 hh and SD40-2r plus special load on heavy duty flat car. Behind us came a Wheeling and Lake Erie freight with Leased SD stenciled for WLE and a Gp in the WLE paint scheme like DRGW had. Lot of action at the Yard Hump as well. Too hard to get pics, but saw a SW1200 in some odd bluish gray scheme, NRE GENSET for NS (finally my first GENSET!) CN c44-9w and UP. Ill have to search the pic back over to see if I missed any. I even watched them hump Autoracks, which I didnt know they did. I thought autoracks were do not humps. Learn something new everyday!

    Store at MR&NKP
I also picked up in the store, a 1974 EMD SD40-2 Operators Manual to replace the one I bought last year that now has a chicken soup recipe on it! LOL and a 2005 Shareholders guide for the NS with a DVD of the NS rebuilding in N.O. after Hurricane Katrina. The total was $3.00!

    More photos and videos:
Go to the link in my signature to find more photos from this trip! There is something like 225 photos and 3-4 videos including one of a BNSF-UP unit coal train at a grade crossing. PLUS an Operating N scale NKP layout at the museum.

    1. NS Bellevue Yard Loco maint, with High and Wide Load just past the set of railcars in the foreground, and the sw1200 is seen just behind it.

    2. Wabash F7 cab

    3. Wheeling and Lake Erie that snuck behind us at the grade crossing while I was waiting on the NS train in pic 4.

    4. NS SD40-2's with heavy load

    5. NS hump yard action, tankers are going west on the hill.

    6. Alco RSD12 NKP 329. Pics of the Cab are in the photobucket album.

Great photos Jeff, I wish I had that kind of variety around here! I might have to look up that video about the NS rebuilding New Orleans. I'm going to look through the whole picture set when I get a chance, were you able to capture any of the heavy flat & specialty load?

Very nice pics, Jeff! With the weather conditions, they have a nice "color-highlighted B&W" feel to them.

JazzBass, the last couple to sign in on the 11th were 72 years old from Xenia, Ohio! they have you sign in on a nkp engine roster sheet. Pretty neat.

TD, you know I shouldve taken a few black and whites. I didnt think about it. THO, in some creepy way, my picture of the Lincoln Funeral bell came out an eerie green color my first attempt, tho, when I looked at it, it was not green. I do not know how or why I did that!

Bob, I do have one pic of the heavy duty flat. My camera was dying out, and I didnt have the spare battery so I took longer to shutter. Ill post it below.

Musicman, CodyO it was such a blast. Even seeing the trains go by hearing them blast their airhorns as you sit in a cab is amazing!

Bigford, yeah, sucks to be me! LOL

just found out by looking at the pic the beatdown F unit is an ex PC!

plus two pics of the load. not the greatest, as it caught me off guard!
