It's very kind of you to post so many how-tos on your site. As a beginner I find them very helpful.

Great how-to, Mike. Those are a nice value-add for your site, and a good service to the MR community.

It depends on which Kato couplers, but generally, I agree with this statement.

The Kato trucks however are really nice. I don’t toss out nice trucks.

I just body mount couplers on cars and cut the Kato couplers off the trucks. Granted, I have body mounted couplers on almost everything I own.

Actually, the only nice trucks I don’t cut the couplers off the trucks when body mounting are MicroTrains trucks. Those I replace with MicroTrains trucks without couplers and then sell to others periodically.

On the subject of the Kato 2 bay covered hoppers, they are an easy body mount conversion. There is a dimple in the frame where you drill and tap the screw hole. Then you use an MTL 1025 ( old part number ) coupler. ( at least I think it is a 1025, I don’t have one I front of me... )

Perhaps, but I have never been one to believe in dead threads... I would certainly rather see someone revive an old thread. It shows they have taken the effort to find out what information is available.
