I, too, like the bottom one with the steamer "watermarked" behind the text on the front.

As for the "N" logo, as much as I am beginning to hate making a "program" out of all this, shouldn't the "N" be somewhat standardized if it's supposed to be code for "I'm an NScale.Net member" ?

If so, maybe somebody could make one as a GIF or PNG or something, and make it available for download and inclusion on our designs.

I would add one to mine, but I think it should be pretty small and unobtrusive, just in a corner or something. I don't know that it should be very flashy or "in your face".

I mean, really, it would be like with a real business, say a bank, that has the "Member, FDIC" or something. It's never very prominent.

Well when absnut mentioned putting a yellow N on the passes I looked
up at the top of my browser and saw a yellow box with a white N on everything related to nScale.net
I just made one that looked the same as that.

    Works for me.

Especially if Bryan or somebody can (or will) provide the source image file for that logo, rather than each of us screen grabbing it and getting a different resolution or making our own and having slightly different interpretations.

LOL! "A life of its own...."

TD, I must hasten to point out that I just stuck any ole "N" on mine to see where and how it would fit! I think George's N is the best because it is ours And, at that size, I really don't mind making a screen grab to get it. Bryan's got enough to do without me pestering him to do more work.

Screen Grab? I just did a right click and save as but I get the whole shot and don't know how to get the N separated from the rest.

I spent a few minutes this afternoon to create my "pass". I really want to participate in this. I also want to trade "real" passes. I know it costs a stamp but there is nothing as nice as having a momento in your hand signed "live and in person" by a friend. I intend to start a photo album just for collected passes and I hope the collection grows over time. With that spirit in mind, I will not offer mine as an image file.

I also put the "N" on mine but it is a generic "N", not indicating any particular forum or site affiliation, instead simply indicating my chosen scale.

Looks good, Dave. I'll have one of mine headed your way this week.

Big thank you, Bryan, for the "N".

Thanks, Dick! As soon as I have your return address I will return the favor. It will take me a few days to get out and pick up the card stock.

It's neat that this idea has generated some interest. There are a couple modelers who are really into this and are lobbying Model Railroad Craftsman (I've heard) to revive the "Pass Exchange". I hope they succeed. I have an old list of railroaders who exchange passes but, I cannot confirm who still does so, I have contacted one of the above mentioned gents to get an up to date list which I will be happy to share with any who would like to get involved in a pass exchange. Just know that when you do start, your name will appear on lists of pass exchangers and you may find yourself getting a couple requests a week. It does slow down after a while, though.

Usually, when I send out a pass, I have a printed "history" of the D&RJRR that I include as do many exchangers. Some I receive are rather matter-of-fact and others are rather entertaining, while some are a combination of both. A few just send a short note of thanks and their pass. Again, the level of involvement is up to the individual.

If enough are interested, perhaps I can create a "sticky" to list our members who would like to trade passes. I would just list your sign-in names and you could PM each other for the addresses.

Maybe a locked sticky at the top of the For Trade forum in the Trading Post section.
Stickies are not subject to the 60 day deletion cycle.
Post #1 to explain the concept, and put a link to PM your name for inclusion on the list.
Post #2 has the list Usernames with links to PM them and request a postal address.

This thread could continue as a place to share images and discuss the practice.
I can put a predated post at the top of this thread to link to the trading post thread.

Do we need a poll adding to gain an idea of interest?

One thing we old timers really, really resist is change but, I have made yet one more change to my pass, thanks to Bryan taking the opposrtunity to provide us with an "N" we can uniformly display on our passes, should we choose to do so. I was able to get it on both sides where it is visible and doesn't interfere with the rest of the design.

Bryan, perhaps a poll is in order to see just how much interest is out there.

absnut, I like your revised pass.
I replaced the N that I made on my pass with the one that was provided for us to use.

This is the final version. For real this time!!!

I think a poll is a good idea to see who would like to be on a list for the pass exchange.
It could be as simple as:
    1. Yes I'd like to be on the list.
    2. No thanks, I'm not interested.

Yeh, I was gonna ask if it matters who starts a poll.
See if anyone wanted to volunteer to start it.

I would have but, it was not my suggestion so, I deferred to the boss.

I tweaked mine a little this evening ... just the rules on the back and added my web site address. I will be watching for an opportunity to sign up for exchange.
