Wow, I used Google Earth to take a look at the Anniston Army Depot, there are quite a few rail lines running through that base. Especially on the southern end. Thanks for the post!

BTW - They have been working on a Intermodal Yard roughly 35 miles south of Kansas City, out in Garner Kansas. Actually the proper name is, Logistics Park Kansas City Intermodal Facility, Click here --->https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lo...76d256bbd983c3

The map doesn't show all the work that has gone into the facility, but there are numerous tracks off the main line. Pretty awesome sight to see it in person. (Google Maps needs to update, as the facility is almost completed & operational.)

Holy cow, that depot rail plan is easily turned into a plan for a good sized layout.

My favorite is the Milan Army Ammunition Plant in Milan, TN. Zoom in and switch to satellite view and you can find all of these spread out tracks so cars of explosives can be parked with each car far enough from the others that one boom won't turn into a super-big-boom. Plus there are just lots of tracks in a relatively small spot.

Check out what Mike Fifer created. It is not huge but make it wider to add more tracks.

    Sexiest fat man alive.

Mike Fifers yard is sweet! I like that it's smaller and simple. I think I've found some inspiration for my intermodal yard!
