Well, actually, that is not true.

I have sold quite a few things on Craigslist, including DVD player, lawn mower, vacuum cleaner, dog fence, and more ... and have bought locally (which is the whole point of Craigslist) other items --- and the key thing is you get to go, not far from your house, and SEE what it is they are selling, so ...

Is there some scam there?!?!? I think not.

Do you think they'll be insulted if I offer 5.00 in the hope that the searchlight car operates? I need a power truck for mine, I mean I think I still have it. Come on they're cool in a nostalgic kind of way. It also looks like the only item NOT destroyed.

Another Ebay bidder who believes they are in a Live Auction!
As have posted before: Pick an amount you feel the lot is worth and bid.
Maybe a second thought/ additional bid. But I can never understand the repeated bidding in an attempt to win. Especially over a $400 span!! You make the seller's listing look like a shill bidder is helping along.

But the bid amounts look like automatic bid increases by Ebay . You know the feature you set for your max price . Then it looks like some manual bids , then auto again . To me it looks like a bid war between 2 people , a sellers dream .
I could very well be wrong tho

Except the high bidder (me) bid once 3 days ago. The questionable bidder appears to be "clicking" the "bid again" button repeatedly. First yesterday then again today.
Sorry. Not trying to whine TOO much but this always looks suspicious on a high priced listing with minimal activity. I checked the questionable bidder and it does not appear that they bid with this seller recently.

I don't mind losing the bid to a higher bidder. This just shows how little someone understands the bidding process. It is one thing to underestimate your interest and value by an some amount but hundreds of dollars?? Annoyingly uncool in my opinion.

Nn3 lot. I estimated at close to $1000 value.

The seller certainly deserves all they can get for a listing. I wouldn't be complaining if the other bidder had bid higher or won with 2,3 bids. It gives appearance of a shill which leaves bad taste.

As for looking suspicious, I don't see it that way from my perspective.
What I see is someone else who really wants the item as well and is just being cautious and is trying not to over bid his wallet, hoping to top you at a lower price.
But at the same time he's willing to go higher, a little at a time hoping he can up to you.
You know "Well I'm into it for this, another few bucks won't hurt?" Cautious and indecisive.

    It's not like he's bidding a couple bucks at a time, he's dropping bids of $20 - $50 at a time.
    Annoying? Kind of.

Maybe he's just trying to see where you're at and then leave it alone until the last minute, then will guess at what to bid at that time hoping to snipe you
    just over your bid?

I see where you're coming from IF you had bid several bids at once, say three high bids, then I too would be curious what you'd be willing to pay for said item?
I doubt highly it's a shill bidder helping, a shill bidder would have topped you, thus enticing you to make more bids to top his bid.

Perhaps. The $400+ spread doesn't say much for where he "thinks" his wallet is at...

Or help a friend with increments to raise price... I don't think it is a shill either based on bidder relation to seller.

Admittedly, I am over reacting. Just a peeve of mine and looks suspicious.
I actually had my ONE bid set quite a bit higher expecting more interest. I estimated what it was worth to me, set my price and bid.

Probably so. More than likely he was probably hoping your bid wasn't as high, but then got caught up in the bidding game and curiosity got the best of him?

    Funny looking KATO E8's?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Kat...gAAOSwYSFdz3mI

He's got a bunch of stuff listed and are overpriced.
He's got a couple of custom painted Rock Island GP7's.
While the paint and decals are decent, they have dynamic brakes, no rear number boards and stock air horns and used.
For the low price of $300 each!

I just received a special offer from him since I have both on watch just for fun, I can now have them shipped to me for the new lower price of only $200 each!
    Not today Skippy.

He's nothing but another second dealer on eBay and FaceBook who has no clue about reality.

have to watch some of these sellers they also are buyers and bid on there own items to make them go for more. i dont bid once it starts going into a frenzy . i can wait for another day for one to show up cheaper. mostly i stick to one price on my bid and thats all , but i also see what those items cost and figger in the shipping as well .

I'm not so sure he doesn't know exactly what he's doing. There seems to be(I've no way to prove or disprove this) a steady stream of folks lining up to purchase from this individual. You and I aren't going to pay those prices that's true. But folks must be. Who's really to blame here? If folks weren't buying I would think the prices would drop. But I could be wrong.

OK, let me blunt then. He is one who knows how to price gouge and prays on folks who have no clue.
But what I was truly referring to was he called these KATO E8's, they are not...... they are old Concor/Atlas E7's.
And it looks like someone already bought them.
