I'm not normally a fan of graffiti, but I could get behind more like that hopper.

Photographed my first CSX GP40-3 rebuild today. These are also my first train photos with my new Canon 70D I bought last week (I already have 1,500 pictures with it thanks to working a race last weekend).

I love those beacons on 6507. Bug Eye Beacons? There must a nickname for the way they are mounted?

Some photos from yesterday. Visited roughly the same areas as last week. Haven't felt 100% the past week or so thanks to allergies so I don't feel like making long trips, but I still don't want to sit around at home when it's nice outside.

I just LOVE those shots of the grassy track. Reminds me of trams that run on carefully manicured grass. It's rare to see a mainline looking so over-grown, is it just seldom used?

That line is actually a branch line off of CSX's Main Line Subdivison at Park City,KY. J756 originates daily (during the week) at Bowling Green, runs the 25 miles north to Park City before jumping on the Glasgow branch. The train runs to Glasgow, works industries there, and goes back to Bowling Green later the same day. The power then gets used (same day) for J759, a train that runs about 20 miles south of BG to Franklin,KY to work as a local there. The Glasgow Branch is owned by a family in Glasgow and leased by CSX. During the 80s or 90s they ran a dinner train on the line powered by an SD9 ballasted for the steep grade at Madison,IN.

If you are into heritage units, this one will be hard to beat. I couldn't believe my eyes this morning, but look who is back after a long hiatus. She's gorgeous!

I sure do like the CSX in gray, blue and yellow much better than the new paint. Thanks for the pics.

Was in Miles City last weekend and caught one train,

Nice pictures. Must easier to shoot them when they aren't moving.

Was this some sort of open house? I noticed another guy with a camera in the background.

It it was an organized tour for the NMRA regional convention. Wouldn't have gotten anywhere near so close otherwise.
