    Default B & O lettering changes

I tried to look some info on B & O about when they made lettering changes on their diesels. At some point they shortened Baltimore & Ohio to just the 2 letters. Does anyone have an idea of when the changes took place and do you run both style lettering on your layout?
    Thanks!!!

Have you tried contacting the B&O Railroad Historical Society? http://borhs.org

Based on the info I see there, the "B&O" usage at least on freight cars dates back at least until the 1920s.

I found a photo of a marking on passenger car china dated 1927 that still had the old logo.

And another site that claims the old logo that was still being used in 1934.

It appears there was considerable overlap, with the herald changing somewhere about 1930.

A quick check of the US Patent & Trademark office shows that CSX claims "B&O" was first used in 1827, so right off the bat, basically. Oddly, "Baltimore & Ohio" (or "Baltimore and Ohio") does not appear to be registered at all).

That lettering change was part of the C&O/B&O merger (takeover) which happened ~1963...

That's interesting to know. I don't believe I have any spelled out other than the C&O ones.
