As always with your work, really nice job

Can you tell me what masking tape you use because I can't find anything soft enough to follow the contours of air vents etc. Yours look great.
    Thanks, Tom

Expect nothing except the opposite of what you expect, and then expect it to be something other than that ! Then that's about what it will be

    Thanks, Tom!!

I use blue painter's masking tape (the Home Depot stuff). 3/4" wide (I don't think that matters) - I cut it into very thin strips. I don't actually measure the width of the strips. However. they are approx 1/8th inch or so. I lay the outline with the thin strips. That way the tape hugs the contours, nooks, crannies and curves. Burnishing as I go. I then back fill with wider strips.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks again!!
    Wolf

    Default Srs test unit

Building a Sperry Rail Service (SRS) Testing Unit. Using a TOMIX 40 Diesel Rail Car shell (double cab car, but was unpowered), and KATO RDC4 powered under carriage. SRS decals from Circus City, and Walthers. Minor filing at ends of shell to accept KATO frame. Will DCC with DN 143K2 Decoder. Painted frame and trucks flat black. Body shell painted with RUST-OLEUM rattle cans (Tuscan Sun Yellow and roof Aluminum). Will paint out some side windows. Roof appliances from parts box. Not exact, but SRS uses a variety of units, so close. Simple project, and at home on every layout.
