Are you seeing traffic picking up, @badlandnp? Carloads/week year over year are just about where they were at this time in 2019. Definitely been more trains in, out and through the Seattle Terminal. Grain rush is on too.

Seems to be fairly steady. The coal runs in herds now, I hear that they are tieing several together for the eastbound move from Mandan to Superior and back. So that makes for a bit of predicatability. Lots of grain just now, of course. Has been a dearth of wind-gen sets tho, only seen 4 or 5 of those this summer. Oil is steady as she goes as is auto and intermodal.

Not a lot of variety in power anymore. GE's by the dozens with 70ACe's thrown n here n there. Since the roundhouse closed 7 July, it has ended a lot of power interest here.

Saw a long string of BN hoppers with next to no vandalism, so had to do a drive by. Then as I got to the east end, the Beach or Dickinson local returned with a string of stuff.

Had a couple of heavily smoking GE's,

Not nearly enough! I always think of Warren McGee's phot of a Yellowstone pulling hard right here, and it's towering column of smoke and steam!! That would have been a sight to see!!

Spent the weekend getting some stuff done in preparation for moving the Trainshed to my new home. On this morning, Saturday, I got "stuck" at this crossing for a few minutes . . . . . . .

And I got the 6022 again, after spending a few days watching and waiting, here she is inbound as second unit on a coal empty.

Yesterday I had a trip up to Williston, ND and caught this loco on a grain train. It is wild to see these barn units still out there!

Just north of Fairview, MT there is a transloading facility with some private loco's,

While in Williston, the GN Mike 3059 was required duty! She is looking a little worse for wear, but is still fine to see!

Kinda got a skiff of snow. Which made for a good time to catch a coal train!

And it was squealing loud as the lead unit puts the power to the snow covered cold steel!

Then I caught it rolling past Hodges, where there is a falling apart heavyweight passenger car,

It is fairly early in the morning on 31 Dec, 2020. And I hear this coal train is heading into Glendive, so I hightailed out of town west and found it. This is about a mile west of the yard limit, and this guy is heading in to set a spell on 2 Track, so it slows down to ten mph to crawl through the yard ladder. It kinda puts the train into perspective with the Yellowstone River badlands behind it.

Two days before that I caught the local returning from Beach, ND,

Took a trip to Billings yesterday for a bit of work, and to chase trains! Got two good videos, one on the way up just west of Terry at Blatchford siding/townsite,

Saw some nice MRL yard power downtown, the 113 is part of a group I was involved with rewiring back in the 90's. Nice to see it still working,

    PIC_0214.jpgPIC_0215.jpgPIC_0216.jpg

And on the way home, I chased this train, then got ahead of it just west of Forsyth,

    It was a good day!

Had luck this morning, a beautiful and sunny day! Two coal trains in town, and empty and a load. The empty left first behind 9193. Thgen I had time to get to the east end of town and the load left behind 9192! Sequential numbered locos on different trains at the same time! Neat!

These are just fun pics of a couple of noses,
