While not in Glendive, these are BNSF trains/locos that I caught at various places on my trip for Christmas. Went to Iowa to the home farm to see the fam. Also saw some BNSF power at Siou Falls, SD and caught a train going over the Valley City, ND trestle, finally! But that will be in the next post.

The NG is a fuel for the locomotives. They tried a few times with either NG or Propane to find a way to economize and save fuel costs. A small percentage savings across the fleet is worth a lot. Unfortunately, the NG hasn't earned it's way yet.

No pics, just news. As of the 15th the BNSF will be laying off 25 roundhouse employees, out of 125 or so. It has gotten REALLY slow here, from 15+ coal trains a day down to 4 or so. Needless to say, that means fewer locos to be serviced and maintained/repaired. Added to the loss of train crews that have already left fro other places and the number of rail employees here has dropped a lot.

Have heard that most crews have gone to Laurel, MT while some have gone to Aberdeen, SD, and places east in ND and MN.

Caught this coal empty westbound near Miles City. Have always tried to get a good vid from this river bend, but being there at the same time as a train and good lighting is tricky!

It has been a few months since I uploaded any vids, so I managed to get 7 more uploaded today. Mostly here in town, and one over to Miles City. Here's one of the last times I have caught a NS unit here.

This morning was a great time of watching trains! It has been pretty quiet and slow here lately, slow enough that I have noticed that the 1788, a MAC and 1549 have been stationary on one of the service tracks for the last two weeks! So, seeing an Autorack and empty sitting in the yard, then two coal loads entering in the space of an hour was , well, exciting! And I finally found my way to the hill above the wye, so the next video after this is from an N-scale point of view!

Here's the Auto rack waiting with no crew and the empty crew climbing aboard....

And then I finally found my way to this hill overlooking the wye on the west end. It gave me a neat perspective looking down on the trains from a modellers point of view. There are 5 of these vids I got posted, but I left them as seperate shorter vids. So here's the last and longest one, and the rest, (shorter!) are on my youtube site.

Caught this auto rack exiting town westbound, probably to Laurel, on Monday the 21st. Early afternoon light is perfect at this location. There are quite a few fallen flag cars in the train, keep your eyes open!
