Default Show me (HOWE) Timber truss

Is anyone else a fan of Mr. Howes timber truss? I sure am. They seem to defy the laws of physics. Would love to see other pics of this remarkable feat of engineering. If you get bored one day, Google up (two medicine bridge) A howe truss 200 ft in the air. To me is just as impressive as the truss itself.

I acquired this one off of Ebay a while back... It does need a bit of rebuilding, then a nice scene to set it in.

I've always preferred the through truss version of Mr. Howe's timber trusses. I also think it was much nicer when there were still a lot of them in use as highway bridges, as well.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

I know what seller your talking about. He also does speck work for any layout. Almost bought one myself. Still a very nice truss. I also prefer a through truss but it would have been to low on the layout. Thanks for sharing, keep on railing.

Where did that one you have pictured come from? Was that a scratch build, or from a kit?

This is a scratch build from balsa from my in progress layout. It is 7.25 long and 1.25 tall. Took 3 weeks from start to install.

Wow! Did you draw from any plans to build it?

I found A picture of a 100' truss bridge. Measured the length and height. Counted the diagonals which gave me the angle. and drew up a rough set of plans to work with. A grainy picture but I believe there are 2 more interior trusses on the inside but I did not model that.
