    Default Another pair of buildings.

Just finished two buildings for my eBay sales. The Majestic Theater and a Police Station. Both made from my own resin castings. Both are based on actual structures.

Some of you will note that these are castings I used to sell as kits. I did the police station at the request of a retired Chicago policeman who worked out of this building. It's pretty accurate except that the real building is a city block long, front to back.

Any chance you'll do some more castings for sale on ebay?

Probably not. A couple of things discouraged me. First, I was asked for donations for door prizes at the Bradford show. I sent a couple of kits but didn't attend. They put me on a vendors list that was sent to the PA Dept. of Revenue which considered me a manufacturer complete with tax forms and a sales tax license. My first quarter sales tax remittance was a check for 10 cents. Secondly, it's a small niche market. I had about a dozen regular buyers that barely covered the cost of the molds and castings. So I went the route of WS/DPM and started doing "layout ready" buildings. They sell for about 5 times what I could sell a kit for. In fact, these buildings were made from leftover castings. The Hollywood theater that I sold last week I used to sell as a kit for $12. The finished one sold for $77.58.
