Default SD90/43MAC in a Fantasy Heritage CP Scheme

Here's a new project I've been working on. Also a commission.

This is a KATO SD90/43MAC originally painted in standard CP Red. The owner of this beastie thought it would be fun to do it up in a "Fantasy" scheme using the CP Rail Grey/Tuscan(Maroon) scheme. Here's my work so far:

I had a small issue with some minor bleeding of the Maroon underneath the masking tape. I didn't quite get the mix right, and it was a bit too thin on a few applications. I've fixed it with some careful brush painting which you might see if you look carefully enough.

The "order" for this is to be nearly factory fresh. Aside for a tiny bit of dust on the trucks and fuel tank, this will be a pretty clean job. I'll probably put a small bit of carbon scoring around the exhaust vents, but really, it is going to be a pretty clean paint job.

Carbon scoring, hmm, what was it fighting? Was the damage from plasma bursts or laser blasts?

Mostly plasma bursts. Sorry, I do enough sci-fi models where I use that term all the time:

Anyway, I meant some light soot marks

Paint bleed was my fault in over-thinning the CPR Tuscan paint. Nothing a bit of brush work won't solve.

Here's an update. 99% done, just need to add a bit of soot to the top. I also need to do a bit of clean up around the cab windows:

The Kato couplers defeated me in trying to re-assemble them. Brutal to reassemble and get that little metal piece in the right place to keep the coupler tension intact. I am hoping that the owner wants to do a coupler upgrade to a Microtrains one. I may even have a set kicking around...

    Wow, great job!
And now we need Canadian Pacific to do a real one... or at least an ES44AC in that scheme!
