That is a great idea..... too bad I already painted the plexiglass.

Update on the Carshop Build, The floor has its base coat on. I will be adding some safety lines around the inspection pit hopefully this weekend. After the stripes, the walls should be going up soon!

Made A LOT of progress on the Control Panel. I was able to mount it on the module today. Now all that is left is to run the wires to the track feeders and construct a removable roof to hide it all.

We went shopping in Lancaster, which just so happens to have the closest Hobby Shop, so we stopped for a bit. It just so happens, they just received an N scale collection! What luck!

Found a perfect station for my Nn3 loop. It just so happens, that this model matches a prototype from the actual line. With some work, this $2 station will look great!

I picked up this freight house for $5. Unfortunately the whistle doesn't work.... that will be a project for another day. I remember someone on here replacing the motor to make it better. I'll have to try to find that forum. Anyways, it will look great on my Roundhouse module.

Picked up some random cars for cheap. The crescent limited will most likely get repainted into other lines. The B&O's will receive some love, while the coal hoppers will receive loads. I also picked up a custom road name caboose and a LED circuit for my arc welder in the car shop.

    20191108_163905.jpg

There was several pieces with this road name: engines, freight cars, passenger cars, and this caboose. I am assuming that they were someone's prized pieces at some point. Kind of a somber moment when I thought about it more. Seeing how I model Appalachia, I decided to buy a part of someone's custom road to live on in my fleet.

I'm not allowed to run the train, the whistle I can't blow. I'm not allowed to say how fast the Railroad Train can go.
I'm not allowed to shoot off steam, nor even clang the bell. But let the damned Train jump the track, and see who catches hell!

If powering your tracks with DC, you might put Bi-color 2 lead LEDs inline with your track switches. That way you can prevent accidents. Cool thing is that you don't have to stick with R/G. There are other color combos.

We're DCC. Right now, the orientation will be the indicator for if the track is live or not. Don't think that I could have fit LEDs in there due to space restrictions unfortunately.

Being Red/Green Colorblind, that is a necessity!

I've been wanting to come up with something similar for our Kato switches on the mainline. Something like that is do-able.

We aren't using the KATO switch controllers, so the wires were snipped. So now I am forced to use something mechanical like your method.

I used R/G LEDs and DTDP switches - one side carries track voltage to the frog and the other is for the +/- 12 volts from a wall wart.
The LEDs are 3 legged -- one for each color and one for the common.
I think the components came from Mini-tronics.

We had a work session at my place this past weekend to work on the Club's module.

    We went from this:
    Club Module.jpg

    To this:

    20191111_162831.jpg20191111_162844.jpg20191112_055548.jpg
After fixing some damage from storage, we made a lot of progress on the scenery and added the hardboard. We plan to complete more scenery before the Club show in December.

I decided to go make another pilgrimage back to the hobby shop (added another hour drive time yesterday to the club meeting) in hopes that they had went through the N scale items that they recently took inventory of. I was excited to see that they did and it was all marked low to be sold quickly!

I picked all of this up for a little over $40.

    20191112_220344.jpg

    -KATO straight tracks (future modules)
    -Industrial building
    -Station
    -Small water tower
    -Tree stumps
    -Ice Cream Vendor and people
    -2 Packs of Street signs
    -Industrial Smokestack
    -Random bag of detail pieces
    -Car Washer
    -Dummy Couplers
    -MT trucks w/couplers
    -Metal Airplane kit

It is rare for me to find used N scale items, so the time to buy them is when you find them!

Water tower will fit perfectly with Nn3 loop station.

Took a vacation day yesterday to move the modules into the mall to prepare for our Holiday show. Unfortunately, there was some damage during the trip. The worst of it was the Turntable's piece that connects to the motor's shaft broke. Add that to the list for things to get done before Railfair.......

Though that put a damper on the day, the set up and moving went well. I also was able to get pretty far on the scenery for the Return Module.

Also finished the base for the carshop build. Now that the modules are at the mall an hour away, I will be focusing on this build and the Nn3 loop scenery.

My friend honored(?) me by putting a car lot on his layout after me. I questioned honored as he has me selling VWs ................. out of a Hot Dog trailer!

FREE HOT DOG WITH THE PURCHASE OF AN VW! If that doesn't sell cars, I am not sure what will?!

Wow, those trees are really selling it! That is certainly looking like some B&O territory.

I am really pleased with how it is turning out already. Other then the small little wire trees and the ever greens, the rest of the trees are pine cone trees salvaged from a friend's layout (the guy who did the VW car lot).
When converting over to Bendtrack, he changed from Chessie/Conrail to modeling the BNSF and MILW. Changing roads also meant changing terrain. So, I bought all of his salvaged trees and they are looking GREAT on this module. In this picture is about 1/3 of them.
