Icon6 Quinntopia - Not dead yet!

It's been a few years since I've posted here, but I'm not dead yet! Yes, its been quiet from old Quinntopia, but we're still going. Life is just too busy. Plus, I have too many hobbies, so I was mainly focused on my comic book collection for a few years, and then I got back into building the latest version of Quinntopia (ver 3 I think?) and then I picked up a 1978 Gottlieb Sinbad pinball machine and have been working on THAT, so my most recent layout priorities have taken a backseat to that project.

    But, I'm still here!

In fact, you could say what I'm building now is an urban layout - which also happens to have trains!

Here's a few images of where I am now. There's a lot more to do - and a lot of people and more cars to add - but I've been mainly working on scratch-building the metro-station, wiring the Metro line (eleveated) to operate automatically, and wiring in the cars, street lights, etc... A few more cars with lights and I think that will be enough.

Her's a link to my new layout - at least the urban grid:

I've actually been working on this new layout for over two years. What's amazing is that my first layout only took a year to complete! Of course, I have a much more demanding job now in addition to other 'hobby distractions'! LOL!

    Here's a few more photos:

This is an older photo (from last winter) right when I started adding buildings to the layout:

As I mentioned, I put a lot of detail into somethings, including things that probably won't matter, such as these platforms that are inside the Metro Station.

This is my scratchbuilt/kit-based metro station about two years back..took about a year to finish!

I found your blog by accident quite some time ago(back when ancient Quintopia was in its golden age), and I've been following your progress on old and new Quintopia. In fact, your awesome urban layout/s have inspired me to attempt to build my own. I've even started my own blog as well.
Had no idea you hung out here on nsn, but your work is awesome and I look forward to checking out more pictures of your layout so I can continue procrastinating on mine!

heres a link to my silly blog, if you want to check it out:

I have long admired your work, especially the lighting effects. I hope you will visit my Flickr page (like you did 5 years ago) and see what's new!

Those bulk chinese figures ok for filling a crowd in the background, but the difference in quality between them and some nice figures is stark. But from the sound of things this station platform interior won't be front and centre?

I do believe they are, is it just me or do the Chinese figures have a bad habit of losing heads?

I see @quinntopia that you are selling off all your railroad items. Can't believe I was not paying closer attention to the structure sales. Would have enjoyed possibly owning a piece of Quinntopia!

I caught up on your posts about why. All the best with the business. Timing is everything. As many here will say, you have long been an inspiration to countless modelers for your structure building, kitbashes, lighting, composition, photos, videos, N scale modeling and, importantly, generously sharing your techniques, resources and skills through your web pages, a commitment in and of itself.

You will always be welcome here! Hope we will still be able to access the site!
