    Feels like advertising...
It is in the Product & Service Announcements forum, and the OP seems to be informing us of a “service”.
Subsiquent posts are reviews of the service or updates.

This would not be allowed if in any other forum/sub-forum.

Advertising or not, allowed or disallowed, I'm edging toward the "Ignore" button re: Trovestar. Enough is enough.

Something has never felt "right" about this bunch (apart from their product reviews), and now it feels even less "right" than eBay.

Paul, Moose has to agree with you.

This feels too much like advertising.

Additionally, other Trovestar.com posts seem to be just attempts to build up their customer base through free exposure on this (and other?) MRR forum. They are not otherwise contributing to the nSn community.

And now they are advertising their advertisers promotions?

Moose also gonna put Jenna, jdmichaels and any other Trovestar.com owners/representatives on Moose's official do-not-call-lest-you-be-wantin'-to-be-stampeded list.

    FYI:

If you look on their website, absolutely no information about them, their company, the location of their company, or contact information. Reputable businesses provide such information.

Agree with you 100 percent, @Moose2013. The last sentence in the quote above that I pulled says it all.

If it doesn't feel right, then it's not right.

This might be a non-issue, the classifieds don't even work anymore. It's just a page of unindexed files

    Hi Guys,

Normally I don't reply to threads of this ilk, but I would like to clarify a few points. I prefer not to see misinformation propagated.

    1) The classifieds are a service. We make no money from classified posts, either from the buyer or seller. We have done some consignment selling on behalf of friends, we do this at cost as a favor to people who don't have the means to do so themselves. We do restrict sellers to members of the NSE to try to make sure the quality of the sellers is at a certain level.

    2) We are a registered MA LLC. We have a basic information page here: www.trovestar.com/general/about.php. We do not offer a phone number and that is common practice these days. You are welcome to email us. You are welcome to find out more about the LLC through the various public company information websites.

    3) Advertising implies we are selling a product. We are not. We do encourage folks to join the NSE if you are interested in collecting N Scale and selling through our classified system. We have no commercial agreement with the NSE (i.e. we don't get paid by them).

    4) We have no advertisers, so how can we be promoting their offerings?

    5) We have no control over the prices set by our sellers. If they choose to list things too high, we cannot and will not tell them how much their items are worth. If you would like to haggle with them, their contact information is available through the interface. Feel free to reach out.

    6) The system is a labor of love and constantly undergoing upgrades and improvements. We do have outages from time to time as all the coding is done by volunteers. We apologize if the classifieds were not working for some period of time and we appreciate when folks notify us of bugs.

    7) Most of our sellers charge ACTUAL shipping. That is why shipping fees are not listed.

In the future if a new seller lists their items for sale, we will encourage them to promote their own offerings so as not to offend anyone here.

TroveStar has been deemed a “service”, and as such this thread in the Products & Services Announcements forum is allowed.

TroveStar has this single thread that they continue to update... they have not been intrusive and littered our site with posts all over... they just keep interested parties updated on a service available to n scalers... a service that we have no obligation to use... if you’re not interested, ignore the thread.

Like with any member here, if an individual does not like content from that member, they can add the member to their Ignore List, and wont see any of their posts.
