Default Ecos Detector Alternatives for Block Detection

I am currently setting up my layout for block detection to use with Ecos and Traincontroller.

I have one Ecos detector which will handle 16 separate blocks. The trouble is that I now know I will need at least 8-16 more and unfortunately the Ecos Detector is quite expensive so I was wondering about an alternative which would less money.
The only other one I have found so far is the Digitrax BDL168.
Anybody know of any others out there that will work for me?

I've had good success with the WatchMan from RR-Cirkits. List price is $46.20 for eight detector circuits, plus you will need 100:1 current transformers, which he has for $14.40 for eight of those. These are Loco-Net compatible or can be set up for TTL outputs.

I have no business relationship with RR-CirKits, but Dick is a friend of mine. He also has LCC hardware in addition to the Loco-Net devices, and my new layout will use the LCC stuff.

I actually talked to him recently about another one of their products but he was not sure if they would work with the ECos.
Didn’t notice or talk to him about the watchman so I’ll probably give him another call,,thanks.

Since you're using TrainController + ECoS, I wondering if ECoS Command will act as a pass-through for the DCC I/O? I mention this because you don't need to configure switches, detectors, etc. in ECoS... only in TrainController, and then TrainController sends the command through ECoS Command (?) to the DCC device(s). (Just kinda thinking out loud here.)

I am using the ECOS with a mix of Ecos Detectors and the 4088 from Digikeijs (S88N). There is an adapter to connect the 4088 to the ECOS S88 input. Works perfect!
