    Default Jerry Laboda

Read this on another forum, which said they heard it from Facebook that Jerry Laboda (@jmlaboda) has passed away.

Another loss of a good member.

Ugh! Very sad and shocking! FB page said he passed away from a stroke. At least he didn't suffer.

The opening words on Jerry's website (as indicated by Spookshow above):

THIS WEBSITE IS IN MEMORY OF JOHN LABODA, 1918 - 1969

He was my father, my hero and my friend, and I owe my interest in railroad to his because of the "quality time" we spent together, often watching trains. And, because of his work as a security guard and fireman at Edwards AFB and for North American Aviation/North American Rockwell, he was also a hero to a number of other people as well.

    Thank you Daddy...for everything!!!

We lost another generation with Jerry.

I hope somehow that site is archived /preserved for posterity. It would be quite a legacy.

I think Peteski did over on TRW. I think most websites are cached by Google.

That would be good if it is preserved at TRW. Google caches sites, but that's not the same thing as keeping and curating...

I mean to say that Peteski over at TRW did something. It's not preserved on TRW per se. Let me check now....

    OK, found Peteski's post:

I requested the Wayback Machine to save his pages.

Looks like Jerry's pages were already being archived.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Jerry's family and friends. I didn't know him but looking at his website it's clear he was passionate about trains. He obviously put a tremendous amount of effort into putting the site together to share with his fellow enthusiasts.

Thanks Jerry for all you have done. RIP

Never heard of the guy or am I aware of what he modeled or did for the hobby.

    But, sad to hear nonetheless.

The passing of a fellow modeler who you have followed over the years is indeed a sad moment. The suddenness of it all can be sobering, too. I checked Jerry's member page. His last posting to this site was in the afternoon of April 4, 2018. The notice of his passing came the next day. Hug your loved ones while you still can.
