    Default ScaleTrains.com GEVo's are shipping

Haven't received mine yet, but the pics are certainly impressive. If not for the couplers and bendy handrails, I'd almost think these were proto photos -

I plopped down for a pair of these. I love the look of the ET44s and this gets me one step closer to the layout being 100% LokSound by the end of the year.

They look awesome other than the things spookshow pointed out. May have to get one of the CSX variants and compare it to my Kato ES44AC's.

Give in, join the dark side, shamelessly wallow in it. Much easier.

    Oh my goodness.

I don't have much money to spend on this hobby. I have just 3 DCC locomotives, 2 of which actually work. All three were cheap ones I grabbed off Ebay for around $50 each.

Watching that video-- this is the first time that I have got the real itch to spend $200 on a locomotive. I can't do it! No money! But these look really great, and have sound built in.... it's almost enough to cause me to switch eras and make a huge splurge. I don't know what it would be like to own a locomotive that fancy, and new, too!

Wish I had never seen this thread .

Mine arrived today, and I've included two pictures, one of the box and one fresh out of the box. Pro tip: when they say grab it by the fuel tank, they mean it. Everything else has tiny little details. It's a beautiful unit, sounds great, and I have only one complaint: the train line air hoses drop down too low. On mine, the forward one found Unitrack section joints repeatedly - click, click, click around the test loop - and the rear one dangles below the rail head. I tried gently bending it but didn't have any real effect. I'll work on it more later in the week when I get back home.

Scale Trains image showing the low train line air hose.

I plopped mine on the layout. They look great! The only thing they could tweak is the grab irons (they are about .01” too far off the shell). I checked the sound and they sound crisp and the volume level is just right for my layout. The direction was wrong on both engines (F isn’t F), which I think is messing with the lights (F6 didn’t bring the ditch lights on), but the engine was in Reverse to get the headlight on. I’ll try to reprogram it with the LokProgrammer tomorrow. Once I get things tweaked I’ll update the group.

Just got mine and it's making me very happy right off the hop. First DCC-Sound loco I've purchased in quite a while that, out of the box, didn't require tons of wheel cleaning before it would run properly. Nope, I put it on the rails, gave it some throttle, and off it went without so much as a single hiccup. Very refreshing

I think I'm going to have to get out my magnifying glass in order to read the operator's manual. Don't they know that model railroaders are (by and large) old guys with iffy eyesight?

I'm working on a video. But in the meantime...

One takeaway: After I speed-matched them with my other locos, I MU'ed them with one of my Fox Valley ES44s...OMG, the ScaleTrains GEVOs make even the Fox Valley loco look like a toy!
