Default New Crowdfunding Options from Out of the Box: CNW Crandall Cab, and Alco DL-108/110

Hello everyone! We are pleased to announce, that in addition to our commission system, for those who do not wish to fork out over $100 to have a custom model kit designed, that we now have a new option to get you the kit you want. We are getting into crowdfunding! All it takes is a message to us telling us what kit you want, and in what scale, and we post it. Most N scale cars and locomotive shells are going to be $10 per unit. There will be a limited number of units for each idea, and when they're sold out, CAD development work will begin. Once CAD work is complete and approved, everyone will be shipped their model 1 week before it goes on sale to the public for full price.

If a project has less than 50% of units sold after 30 days, the idea is dead, and everyone gets their money back. If a project has more than 50% of units sold after 30 days, it will be reviewed, and if it meets the right conditions, it will proceed to development.

We currently have two ongoing Crowdfunding projects to start off with:

Chicago & North Western Crandall Cab E9BA Here

Alco DL-108 and DL-110 (ATSF and Southern) Here

If you have an idea, feel free to message us though our contact form, respond to this thread, or PM me!

Just FYI to anyone who has ordered a Crowdfunding unit, your shipping has been refunded, and there will be no shipping costs any new orders. Even international.

I really like this idea, unfortunately I don't model either of these. City of SF goes to the wrong side of the bay.

Feel free to make any suggestions and I can add them as a new crowdfunding project. We just had two crowdfunding projects sell out in less than 48 hours, a 1/72 scale Yak-9T Fighter, and a 1/350 scale Light Cruiser USS Atlanta CL-51.

Did the Chicago & North Western Crandall Cab ever get made, or is it still planned? I'm modeling DME and CNW, and I really wanna try to get some of the more unique locomotives. The Crandall Cab definitely counts as unique!

I don't know the answer, but a Crandall cab is probably one of the most straightforward kitbashes one can do... it's been done in N scale before.

I invested in a couple of the Erie Built units but have not heard any updates on the projects... I assume that things are still going forward...

Generally speaking CAD is a very slow process when multiple parties are involved. There have been times where I spent weeks going through the designer's liaison to get the most simple of things accomplished. I wouldn't doubt if the progress that has happened isn't really apparent enough to release yet.

Hi guys, just updating everyone. If you didn't see my update to the Fairbanks Morse thread, our European engineers were on vacation all of August so we had almost all of our projects derailed. We're getting everything going again, and should have some CAD screenshots for you in the next 2-3 weeks.

I see the Crandalls are listed as sold out but haven’t been produced yet. Is there a reason to limit orders before they go to production?

My understanding is that the business model is to offer a limited number pre-production to get the funds to develop the item (and to test demand). Then the item is prototyped / produced and final production price is established. These should be listed for sale once produced (sales price will be higher than crowdfunding price apparently).

N scale units are almost done. Just needed to fix some details. should be ready to print in a week or so. HO and O scale should follow 2-4 weeks later.
