    Default Vermont & Atlantic MRR

In 1995 when Vermont Railway, Green Mountain RR merged, they joined up with the Central Vermont Railway to become the Vermont & Atlantic RR (reporting mark VARR). It runs from New London, Connecticut, to Rouses Point, NY, a distance of about 400 miles.

    The railroad also interchanges:

    • PWRR at New London, CT
    • CSX at Palmer, MA
    • PAS at Millers Fall, MA
    • VTR at Rutland, VT
    • CN at Saint Albans
    • CP at Brookport, QC
    • CP at Whitehall, NY

    Branch lines:

    • Bellows Falls to Rutland VT (taken-over in 1995 from the GMRC)
    • Burlington to Bennington VT (former Vermont Railway)
    • White River Junction to Saint Johnsbury VT
    • Former MMA line to Brookport, QC, extending the former B&M line from Saint Johnsbury, VT

    Vermont & Atlantic passenger service

    • Regular fall foliage excursions September - October.
    • Diner trains on holidays and fall foliage season
    • Charter trains any time of the year
    • Steam train excursions and other special events as advertised.

The railroad is also working on a joint venture with various local historic societies on creating a transportation museum, so stay tuned.
