    Default Dual power pack?

I need a dual power pack (non DCC) for my small layout. Why am I having such a hard time finding one? There is an MRC Tech 7 dual, but everyone is out of stock. There are a few listed on Ebay, but they're either very old, untested, are ridiculously priced, and/or have outrageous shipping costs. Is there another one I should be looking for?

Swap meets, the Bay, etc., or check to see what some of the British vendors offer.

While it's not impossible to find what you're looking for, odds are you will only come across single-cab DC units.

Everything's pretty much going DCC. Jump in; the water's fine!

Also check out any auctions in your area on top of flea markets or shows. I got one in a box of "junk transformers" at an auction not too long ago, paid $2 for about 15 in various condition but only 1 dual-throttle (that I saw anyway).

MRC Tech 4 280 is a good one if you can find one... I saw one in a damaged controller lot on Ebay for $9.99 that apparently only needed the direction switch fixed (that should be an easy fix).

Is there a particular reason you don't want to use two singles? If you get a dual and something happens to it, your whole layout will be down. If you lose a single unit, at least part of the layout should still work.

And if for some reason you want to adopt DC cab control, you will need two single cabs.
