Default Arizona Rock Ballast Pics Wanted

I am getting ready to begin ballasting some of my track. I would like to go with Arizona Rock, but, while I have heard good things about the product, their web site sucks. Trying to determine what a given ballast looks like is near to impossible, especially if you are trying to see the differences between all of their “Gray” blends. Most of the photos show the ballast in its packaging or an actual photo of the railroad. Not very helpful. I did find a comparison chart on Fiferhobby.com, but that only shows a small dot of the product, from a distance. Again, not very helpful. So, I am looking to see if anyone has any photos of ballasted track that used their product they can post along with its name. Thank you.

In fact I do not know if anyone noticed but their "regular" site, (http://store.rrscenery.com/), no longer functions. I ended up finding this by accident - http://armballast.com/.

Makes me wonder if they really want business?

Here’s the best I can do. This is just to show the colors and size. I just poured the ballast in place on a spare piece of code 80 PECO track and roadbed. This is what I’m going to use for my mainline. Hope this helps.

This is a blend of the following:
    4 parts#105-1- Pennsylvania Grey
    4 parts #125-1- Pink Lady
    1 Part #103-1 Black Cinder
1 Part B73- Buff from - Woodland Scenics

I concur, their website is pathetic.
Around the first of the year I started to look into their ballast, i had the same thoughts you did, "Can't tell one color from the next"
Someone tipped me off that they had sample packs for sale, and I found them on eBay.
It wasn't very much so I ordered a pack. I think there was 16-18 small packs to look at?

I just looked on their site and eBay and now I'm not seeing any samples.
Might want to drop them an email or call them. Unlike their website, they were friendly and helpful.

Moose had ordered their samplers so as to get better idea of sizes and colours. Yes, costs more, but at least you have a better idea of what you are ordering...

Thanks all. I will inquire about their samples and let you know if I hear anything.

Well, to give credit to Arizona Rock, I received an email back with regards to my samples question within 3hrs. It was an interesting response to say the least:

"Sorry, samples not sold anymore as there is know one to do them anymore."

Ok... so, no samples, but it makes me wonder as to the rest of their response.

Can't imagine the model railroading ballast packing industry is rife with a prospering workforce.
