Default New run of Kato UP excursion cars announced

Darn, same old cars as last time. Was hoping they might make a different set that included some new cars (Art Lockman, Howard Fogg, or Sherman Hill to name three). Oh well, money saved for me.

Sounds like they did make a few changes:

"The 7-car Excursion train consist features two brand new cars - A Power Car (A modified/rebuilt Baggage Dormitory car prototypically used for providing head end power to the trailing cars) and a UP Business car "Kenefick", forming the head and tail of the excursion consist, which also includes notable cars like the vibrantly decorated Promontory Museum car, with its full-body American Flag wrap, and a pair of Dome cars. The Water Tenders are an all-new design and are sold as a two-pack for modelers to supplement their FEF-3 or other UP steam locomotives. Just like the prototype models, the two tenders are not identical, having (in addition to one car having an externally mounted American Flag plate) different weld mark details which will be replicated on the models of the two cars, ensuring that their unique spirit is preserved when translated into model form."

No, that's the same marketing spiel from the first release. Cars were brand new then, but not anymore.

I didn't realize that. They showed that verbiage I quoted under their update dated 1/11/2019. Thanks for clarifying.

Why not new car names at least?! Most of the cars they did have another car name/number with the same body style. Seems like it would be so little effort to change the names and it would make me purchase a new set.

Some new body styles would be great in the future:

    Tool Car Art Lockman 6334
    Concession Reed Jackson 5818
    Deluxe Sleeper Portola 1610
    Diner City of Denver 5011
Dome Lounge City of San Francisco 9009
    Power Car Howard Fogg 209

Good point both of you - simply mixing in some new names on the existing cars would've required zero effort and presumably resulted in more sales (me for one).
