    Default scaletrains.com C39-8's are shipping

Got a Conrail DCC-Sound unit coming my way (for review purposes). Unfortunately, none of the roads that I model had them, so not something I'm likely to keep (and I suspect I'll wish I could).

P.S. Is anybody else annoyed by this company's name? Please lose the .com and make me happy

I know!!! .com is a website, not a business name! You don’t say Amazon”.com”, it’s just Amazon!

It's just like the late 80s/90s all over again, when everyone and their dog were called something with "2000" (and later "3000") in their name. These days everything has a #hashtag. And some people are mixing the symbology

Are you going to evaluate it and then add the results to your N scale locomotive web site? I'm one of your frequent visitors since most of the locomotives in my collection are eBay purchases and I always check your library of locomotive info before bidding. Keep up the good work!

It's never too late to model Conrail. Come to the blue side. They got me with the C39-8 and I've one should be shipping the first part of next week. After seeing their Tier 4 Gevos from club members, I am a little concerned how it will make my other pretty blue locomotives look. The details on those are outstanding.

In the 90's Conrail had quite a lease racket going. Specifically, C30-7, C39-8, C40-8, C40-8W and SD40 models were sent nationwide. In fact, Conrail purchased ex ATSF C30-7s and new C40-8Ws just for their leasing arm. Conrail C39-8s were seen all over the Southern Pacific.

I've been running mine for the last couple of days and I've noticed that it's just a bit jittery/lurchy (particularly evident at slower speeds). It seems to be more of a mechanical issue (like a bind or something) than an electrical one. I did try doing a CV54 auto-tune, but that didn't change anything. Anybody else have one of these and are you seeing the same thing?

    Thanks,
    -Mark

What are you seeing as best price? Do we have to order directly from scaletrains.com?

I don't think anyone sells these for any less than STC does. Not that I've ever seen anyway.

    Mark,

Ran it a little this morning after seeing your posts and
I didn't notice anything. Thus far, mine has limited run time - just speed matching, basically. When I get time I might try more extensive running, paired with other ESU decoders.

You will not see them for a lower price no matter where you buy them from. At least until ST has sat on them for a while and decides to have an inventory blowout sale and knock another 30-50% off their prices like they did with the N scale containers. Thus leaving their " select retailers " holding the bag on merch they can't move because now their prices are too high. I will not support ST until they change their sales model. Our local LHS inquired about becoming a retailer for them when they started but told them no thanks after going over their terms. They had to have a very sizeable first order, when the only things available were the N scale containers, and HO scale boxcar kits and the tank cars.
