    Default Con-cor PA1 Details

I was finally able to come across an older Con-cor PA1 set that I intend to turn into my Lehigh Valley Black Diamond Express. It will obviously be a custom paint/decal job, but I was wondering if there are any "typical" or "common" detail upgrades that people normally do for the PAs. I wasn't able to find anything in a search of the forum at least.

The set is currently A-B-A (power-dummy-dummy) in Santa Fe colors. Coupler upgrades and light weathering are only only items currently on my list other than the paint job. LV never had any B units, so I'm still up in the air as to if I just sell it, or use it as painting practice and a "what if" type thing.

a bit off topic but I have one of the limited edition ConCor LV Black Diamond sets (yes I know the loco is not prototypical but it still looks good, and , hey, this was produced over 20 years ago and the colors/printing/lettering looks GREAT!

Sooooooooo, yes I will probably PM you .

That set is absolutely beautiful, even though it is like 50% John Wilkes, 25% Black Diamond, and 25% "What If". This version of the BDE is absolutely on my to-do, and it will be the one I end up going as prototypical as I can on. I consider it the third notable iteration. This collector's piece is absolutely on my wish list...

Sorry -- a little late in responding to your question on detailing Con-Cor PA's.

Here is what I did (A number of years ago -- maybe 20)

I changed the horns. Added: cab steps, windshield wipers, number board above the cab, stand off grabs, fiber optic "lenses" and windshield glass (My version did not come with them). And - I body mounted the pilots. I also painted and decaled them with lite weathering.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

Awesome! Luckily the LV PAs appear pretty commonly photographed so I'll definitely start by checking out those areas on Proto-pics and reference your work.
In other news, actually picked up my first LV factory painted unit - a Life-like PB-2 dummy!
