    Default Pacific driver swap

trying to collect some data to make a decision. Modeling a Reading G3 which was the last Pacific type built so it was super modern and had boxpok center drivers. For the base I chose the new Kato 2013 Japanese proto pacific because it has the same awesome worm gear flywheel mechanism as the FEF3 and actually seems to be the best running out of the box n scale steam I've ever seen.

looking at a few routes to convert #1 and #3 driver to spoke type.

here are the options I can think of:

    - Bachman K4 driver set, does anyone have a bachmann k4 they could use a caliper to measure the driver diameter?

    - drivers from old style kato c55 mechanism

    -concor/Kato 4-8-4 S2 drivers

-model power 4-6-2 drivers (last on list, they want $42 shipped for a driver set !)

I would suspect (but I cannot confirm) that the C55 drivers and the C57 drivers are probably interchangeable. I don't have a C57 on hand to determine that, but a lot of Kato specs are the same for similar driver configurations.

    yow, pick a hard one.

I would aim at the s2 drivers because you can also use the concor gs4 drivers for the center axle.

    ... assuming they fit...

now off to find this magic Kato 2103 pacific.

the base loco is the c57? the 2013-1?
did Kato do an update on it? to perhaps 2024?

gah now I have yet another loco I want to get.

when they update the c55 I'll get it... I suppose.

never been into one so I can't guess what might fit.

Oops my mistake I have the 2024 c57 sorry about that. I emailed Kato parts about getting the old c55 drivers so guess we'll see. They had old c55 mechs on their website some months ago wish I would have bought one now because they were like $50 if I remember right.

that would explain why I see the odd c55 on the bay...

Kato tends to completely re-do chassis and parts from production run to production run.
so you have to get your hands on one before you can guess what else might fit.

the recent c11 should have spoked drivers and I'd bet they will be small for your needs.
however, they are likely to fit into the chassis.

The C50 has the new mechanism also may order one since it's a nice little 2-6-0 wonder if it has a parts list in the back of the box. Looks like some pretty high drivers on this one.
