Default Genesee & Wyoming has been sold.

Railroad acquirer Genesee & Wyoming to go private in $6.4 billion transaction

Brookfield Infrastructure and Singapore sovereign-wealth fund GIC are buying the rail operator for $112 a share in cash.

The reason this is posted is Tomahawk Railway (Tomahawk, Wisconsin) is one of 100+ shortlines G&W owns in US, Canada, GB & elsewhere. Unknown as to what may happen to TR itself. I have a couple of EMD SW1500s from MTL which took approx 1.5 years to acquire. https://www.bizjournals.com/newyork/...rivate-in.html

Wow. I lived in Tomahawk for 4 years and enjoyed both watching the switching action of this 6 mile short line, and the old steam engine on display in the park from when the line was the Marinette, Tomahawk and Western. It was always a short line, but at one time had around 45 miles of track. Now it's just a bridge between the CN and the paper mill. As was the case with many early railroads, this one never went anywhere near Marinette, and "Western" meant about 10 miles W. of Tomahawk at Spirit Falls, WI.
