Default Revisiting the Fleischmann 9152 turntable

This is a really smooth turntable, but itís not the best if you want to run the longest of steam engines. It is however pretty typical for the coalfields of PA, Virginia and West Virginia, which is what I model in the late 60ís 70ís and early 80ís.

It requires a reversing loop, and that every exit track be separately powered. Iím not sure if that is typical of most turntables, but it seems to be the only solution to run this one. It lines up really well with the Walthers Union City round house, and has a really good weathered look right out of the box. Another thing about this turntable, is that you have to purchase the exit tracks.

Say, @dataengine66, you and I share a common interest -- Appalachian coal field railroads. Are you building a layout?

Working on my third layout, I don’t have a plan or anything except in my head. I want to build a power plant and coal distribution facility on the Ohio, just trying to formulate something in my head. I am originally from Charleston we but I live in lewisburg now.

Does the Fleischmann turntable automatically stop aligned with each track? I have no recent experience with turntables. In 1959, when I was but 9 years old, my brother and I had Mšrklin trains and he had a turntable and roundhouse. You could push a momentary contact button and the table would move and automatically stop aligned with the next track. If you wanted a different stall you could give a short buzz at each track you wanted to bypass, until it aligned with the one you wanted. Of course, Mšrklin is a 3 track system, so power reversing was not necessary. In our 2 rail world I understand the necessity of the electronic reverser.
    Cheers!

Yes, it is indexed. If you have the electronic controller, you can enter pre-sets to automatically go to a predetermined stall.
