    Default Lost the plot !!!

    The road I drive down every day to work has a series of short stone walls to prevent one from careering off the edge should the worst occur
    IMG_9254 (2).jpg

    Well, in the summer months, having dysfunctional air conditioning in my car, I drive with the windows wound down. I could not help but notice the chuff chuff sound produced when driving past these walls. So, I decided to conduct an audible experiment.

    The walls are 4' long 2'6" tall and 1'6" wide and 3' apart. I compared the sound and frequency of the chuffing to steam locomotives found on Youtube as I experimented with different speeds. I hereby share with you the results of my findings:

    29mph = Canadian Pacific 4-6-0 with One passenger car.

    37mph = Atlantic Coast Lines 4-4-0 hauling a medium freight.

    45mph = Santa fe 4-6-2 Hauling 6 passenger cars on a grade.

    59mph = New York Central lines 4-6-4 with 12 passenger cars at full throttle.

    74mph = Speeding ticket

    Oh dear, I must be losing it !!!!

    Ps. Speeding ticket was averted by not hitting the magic '74'
    Thanks, Tom

    Obviously he fits right in with this forum. Thanks, Tom! I appreciate the imagination inspired by the experience and the photo (notice photo, friend Moose!) of a very interesting guardrail.
