After scraping the coating off one end, I drill a hole in the foam base of the meteorite, poke it through and fix it in place with a blob of glue. Strand by strand There are less taxing ways to unwind after a days work !!!

The photos don't show it very well but bad photos are better than no photos. I'm about halfway through the planting ! The grass will eventually be lit with a green bulb hidden in the base of the meteorite with all the fiber strands bunched together.

Green lowing grass, HOW TERRAN OF YOU!

Why use a boring green LED to make your grass glow?

A more alien solution, is to use a Rainbow LED. It is a R/G/B LED with an internal chip. The LED will run through all possible color combinations, changing constantly. No special circuitry needed. Just a normal resistor plus two wire connections.

It is a trick I will use on my Snowton layout to light a Christmas tree that has optical fibers built into it.

I finished plastering the part of the interior that will be above ground. It has received its base coat colour. This will get red, pink and white highlights. I also fitted the green LEDs to the fiber optics. I still need to trim them to length as they are a bit long. I'm rather pleased with the cave like feel

I did look at some colour changing LEDs on ebay but I decided that less is more I like a bit of class in a planet

Lookin' really good! And I see it is no longer round, like a ... ummm ... fubol

When are the little green men going to populate this new world?

Are you then going to send photos to the National Enquirer (or whatever the UK counterpart is)? Maybe sell movie rights?

    Thank you kind sir.

The aliens will be the last things I add. I still have a lot of painting as what you see is just the base coat. And I still have the underground portion to work on !

As for photos ? No idea what I'll do when it's finished ? Except, quick start a loco build as I see 'the Moose2013 ' is getting restless
    Thanks, Tom

The UFO has landed and I see some aliens disembarking

I have finished painting the above ground part and wired up the UFO.

    Some photos

    IMG_0964 (2).jpg IMG_0979 (4).jpg

    And a short taster video

I'll start work on the 'other' side which will represent the underground part next.

Darn Tom that IS impressive - now all you have to do is get it to hover above the layout

    Thank you thank you.

I had intended to hang it with a bit of fishing wire but have to admit that I never thought of hanging it above my layout ! Brilliant idea, Thanks for that

Now, how do I get 4' of fishing wire without buying a whole roll ???
    Thanks, Tom

Got any mates who fish? Oh and you do realise that your going to have to have a "beam of light" coming down from the craft right ... maybe some poor unsuspecting human being "transported up" to it as well

Just give me your address and I will send it to you (wife uses it for beading projects so has, maybe, in my estimation, 10,000 N scale feet available for the snipping and shipping, she will never notice )
