Default An open letter to nScale.net members

    Dear fellow modelers,

Lately I have been 1) pretty sparse and 2) pretty harsh. I want to apologize to all of you, especially @victor miranda, for the harshness in some of my recent posts. I own my poor behavior and poor wording. I'm sorry for any degree of pain or anger I caused for anyone.

I'm not going to make excuses, but there is a backstory. Life has entered a new phase, not one entirely unexpected. Ironically, a good deal of it pertains to a career move I made in late 2001 to a well-known model railroad magazine located in a suburb of Milwaukee. The fallout from that move became a slow-acting poison in my marriage. The past month has been hard; there's more to come, but eventually the good days will again outnumber the bad days. Enough said.

Not looking for sympathy; rather, I'm looking to mend fences and rebuild bridges here. I'm just asking for the opportunity to do so.

    Thank you.

Paul, we are all human and go through the ups and downs of life. Such is life, you get the bad with the good. I think we've all been there one way or another. The fact that you recognize what you are going through puts you ahead of the game.

We are all one big family here. We don't necessarily agree with each other 24x7 (see first part about being human - including the Moose). But at the end of the day we come here to talk about toy trains and have some kind of worthy distraction of the every day grind.

If there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to post or PM me. And if you are close enough to me I'll drive out and we can have a soda and talk trains! (Sorry not a drinker so no beer. )

    Hi Paul,

forgive me for handing you advice.
please believe me that I know what you are facing.
this is from being in a job that caused me to become... uh,
    I'll just call it cranky.
I got a new boss and that was the cause of my personal problems.

the advice; hunt for what one can only hope is a better job.

I like good debate. For the most part, others see nothing other than
    endless bickering.
I was more unhappy for the loss of the thread.

I can withstand being told I could use a better education...
Sharing that sentiment with a problem person in authority is a struggle.

now to see If I can find a smile emoticon.

    Paul,

First and foremost I am sorry to read of your predicament, I can't begin to understand what you must be feeling and going through right now, or have been in the past. I truly hope that things can work themselves out for you though and if you ever need (or want) to blow off steam, you have my email - feel free to use it any time you want or need.

As has been said, every now and then life treats us unfairly and unjustifiably and that is hard to take, no matter who you are. It is, therefore, only natural that we (yeah myself included) can be worn down by the stress and anger and other emotions that are caused and we say things in the heat of the moment. No one is immune from that, no one.

If you have said things here then so be it - they have been said. Anyone who knows you, either personally, or through these forums WILL know that anything untoward that may have been said was very much out of character for you and an indication that, perhaps, something was amiss. I can tell you from my point of view at least, you have no bridges or fences to mend with me.
    Cheers Tony

I haven't noticed anything unusual or even remotely aggressive or antagonistic about your behavior, Paul, but in this Internet/Social Media era of everyone thinking they're perfect and infallible, it takes a bigger person to admit whatever shortcomings they feel they have and have a sense of humility.

Right now there's this You Tuber guy (non model railroading-related) who just will not drop a minor debate I had with him a week ago over a comment I made on his channel clarifying a statement he made on one of his videos (It's a music-related channel, nothing political or anything like that), he's borderline harassing me and is hell-bent on proving to the world he's right, while I have bigger priorities in life than settling a minor week-old YouTube comment debate. So even though I never saw a problem with you, Paul, it's refreshing to see people out there who have a clue and have a grip on the bigger picture in life. I wish you the best and hope you'll be able to successfully resolve whatever issues you have in your personal life.

    @Paul Schmidt

Moose is pretty good at trampling problems into dust ... Ya'know, just sayin'. Have hooves, will travel, know one can beat Mooses' low low low prices, and if you can wait until Black Friday, there's some coupons in the local gazette for a moose stampede half off, or was that half cocked? Hmmm, well, either way, Moose is here fer ya!

Just a quick update, my wife and I are back on track. Sometimes 29 years of marriage results in a metaphorical garage that needs cleaning.

    We're going to be fine.

Frankly, I think @Moose2013's threat of a stampedin' played a role.

When I think of the things my wife has endured over the last 32 years, the fact that we are still together is a tribute to Kathy's patience, love, and her willingness to use "the brick" to get my attention. I'm still learning to listen.

Glad you two are getting over this bump!

I'm happy to hear you both are moving forward after a long time. Some of us are not so fortunate even after a longer time invested. At the end of the day it's not about hobbies and work. It's about our love ones who we want to be with. We all here at NSN can see you are a valued gentleman and deserve what make both of you happy. Best wishes for a longer future.
