    Default Old/New Anouncement IM GP10s

Well I am going to go ahead and do a service for the good folks at IMRC.

I recently contacted them asking about the GP10 in N scale. I also suggested a bump announcement on pre-orders. The announcement for this model came out shortly before the China Factory debacle.

I suggested that a friendly reminder sent out that pre-orders are still open and maybe an update on locomotive production would help sales.

Well in typical IM fashion I not receive a warm fuzzy response. So I will take matter in my own hands. I would like to see the model produced as well as see IM succeed in N scale so to the fellow members of Nscale.net this is my friendly reminder that pre-orders are still open on the GP10 and many other models at IMRC.

Now if and when they are produced????????????????????????????? My guess is as good as yours.

Side note. thats the issue of being a prototype modeler, you sorta need these road/time period specific models.

I talked to one of the reps from IMRC at the open house that Spring Creek had this past July.
When I asked him about the N scale version of the GP10, his response was not promising.
He said there just hadn't been enough pre-orders or interest in them.
He told me not to hold my breath, and wasn't happy himself as he was looking forward to getting some as well.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

    Thanks Allen,

What I do not understand is the passive attitude at IMRC. Its been a long time since the announcement, what would it hurt for a update? I would be willing to be most people forgot about that offering, and people new to the hobby since then have no idea.

I sent Scale Trains a email the other day and two different people emailed me back, a 180 in customer service.

Remember the guys at scale trains ditched another company (Athearn if I recall correctly) to start their own business because the old company's policies and practices pissed them off. I'd assume this has something to do with the more helpful customer service
    Did someone say whitcomb?

They are more of a niche locomotive than something that would attract broader support. Don't get me wrong: a GP10 would be a great thing for N scalers to have. So would an SD20 and an SDL39, but I won't hold my breath.

That they are Paul, but the HO scale GP10s sold very well.
I guess the side point I was trying to make was more that due to the interruption in production it would be nice if IM would update us on where they are at with a new production facility and which prior announcement item are still offered.

As they stated they do want to produce the GP10 that they have already announced, but have not had much interest.

I ordered mine the day they announced them. That was also the same day that my parts from Shapeways to build a GP10 came in.

    Shame,
It would be a great little loco. Heck I would probably get 2-3 units...ICG and CCP. Do I model either road..nope...just like the way the paint job looks.
