    Default Indian Rock Railway Power builds

    A new beginning is upon me as I'm returning to n scale.

    Have a Kato SDP40F, businesses car that are in the dip tank, along with an SW8 plus these 2 units that arrived today a GP30 and a GP9 that will be going into WNW paint.

    Shame the black widow will be getting stripped but the WNW needs it's power

    The GP30 is one of my favorite locos. It can be improved only by having a high hood!

    @Tim R
    If I could find a couple of Gp38 high hood bodies not GP38-2 shells I could build a high hood Gp30. But then I would need high hood U boat shells for GE high hoods.

    So the high hood issue is stillborn

    Starting to work on the GP30 added a high Mars light on unit, replaced the nose headlight & rear headlight with a detail associate's headlight, added a straight grab below the Mars light with 0.008 wire. Started trimming the grabs for metal replacements, drilled out the markers for fiber optic lenses.

    It begins IMG_20191219_232349.jpgIMG_20191219_232428.jpgIMG_20191219_232456.jpg

    Expect nothing except the opposite of what you expect, and then expect it to be something other than that ! Then that's about what it will be

    The GP9 will be Next as it's almost stripped of it's Black Widow paint.

    @Paul Schmidt.

    Will explain more at the end of this post as to what led to this build.

    As the GP30 above in undec was listed as becoming an IR unit I had a heck of a time finding a handrail piece for that unit.

    Then a mate in Aussie land gave me a complete bnsf GP30 shell just pay shipping it was worth it.
    So as I was looking at the pair of GP30’s I got a brain :fart: idea.

    See pics to understand.

    As for what is going on my doctor found the issue with my hand spasms and it's weather related if it gets below 40 degrees I have to put the modeling away.

    As the tests my doctor proved that above 42 degrees I'm fine, below 40 my hands are a vise.
