Just curious as after having this pneumonia and now getting better looks like next month I can finally get some bench work flowing.

Never realized how much a person could get wiped out from being sick.

If there’s enough interest, or even if theres only a few I would be in. Cost of shipping has gone up a bit since the last traveler I think, but could be fun to try again, the box travelers didn’t end very well, never did hear from Twindad.

at one time it had been suggested a car which each member could leave a bit of graffiti or some other decal or interior detail.

That might be fun, just a blank boxcar each recipient can scribble something on

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

If there is now, we'd have to ensure it gets sanitized after each visit

I started two boxcars on the road around the membership. Both successfully cpmpleted their journeys. One was sent to the site owner and the other was "auctioned" off to a member. I then started around two observation cars (at different times) encouraging members to put a figure inside so that they could participate in the travels. The first one became MIA in Australia. Discouraged but willing to try again, I sent off a second one which became MIA in Idaho. It's a fun idea, but a definite crap shoot when it comes to success. I decorated a Kato RDC4 with nscale.net decals to try again but, chickened out.

    Dick,

Usually, when all is said and done, there's a lot more said than done!

This always sounded like a fun idea. I was looking forward to my turn despite minimal railroad to photograph it on.
I am sure that unexpected changes in our circumstances can interfere with our lives but it is a shame that somewhere along the line there was no follow through with the missing cars.
(I "sold" a member an item once, payment to be sent when his circumstances got better. He promptly left here and posts on other forums regularly... Guess circumstances were better there...)

Just spit balling.... But has anyone considered raising the criteria for participation? Maybe a difficult concept to agree on... Fairness, etc...
Whether there is a length of membership(?) Ebay rating(?) financial deposit/commitment/returned on follow through(?) included emergency return postage mailer - no questions asked(?) Only participants with.....I dunno, good credit(?) ...How about invitation only?

I have considered starting some form of the traveling car myself. So, wondering what other thoughts are out there.
