Default Has anyone gotten the new release Bachmann 2-8-8-4 EM-1?

If you have and can compare it to the original release (detail, operation, sound) please let me know. I have the hots for one, now that they are finally re-released, but want to make sure they live up the high standards of the original release. Especially with recent China production problems.

    Thanks,
    Dave

I wonder if Bachmann forgot to update the description page for this release (using copy from 2013)... on their site, they mention a Lenz/Bachmann DCC decoder, but N-scale supply and Walthers both refer to the decoder as "Econami," which I believe is trademarked by Soundtraxx.

A beautiful loco that I would love to add to my road...

Actually it just showed up on N Scale Supply's "News and Info" page as "Product Arrival 12/23/2019" B&O 2-8-8-4 from Bachmann so I conclude that this is the re-release Bachmann announced some time ago.

There are several on eBay now, over $400 each, state "brand new" so it seems certain these are new release. I have searched for 2-8-8-4 in N scale on eBay for months and never found one of the original ones.

I have three of the original release. These are spectacular. They pull extremely well. This is a new release.

Yes and I am looking for someone who has bought one of the new release, and can compare to the originals.

    Thanks,

I too have 3 of the originals, 2 are running and one is waiting for a shell bashing. They run well but to be honest I have had some crank pin problems with the one in the image below. No longer an EM-1 but rather an SP AC-9

I too hope the new runs are as good or better than the early version.
