Default What are you buying this month? (March 2020)

    A visit to a LHS:

Ended up with a duplicate roadnumber with the BLMA set... and I think I need a bell for the Kato Mikado with a few other detail parts. Pretty happy I found the other NKP hopper set. Needed stuff for all those Monon/NKP engines and cabooses I bought last year

The NKP steamer is going to need some work it seems. Wheels are completely locked up. It gets power, but the more you give it, the louder hum it starts to make.

    @big bill

Why can't everyone have steam locomotives follow them home?

    Really nice looking pair!

Well, I had a bit of a surprise today, in the post box was my long awaited package from 'Da Mooses' Yep, that's what they're called, the return address they wrote on the package was Da Mooses, USA. I guess they're well known if that's all they need write ! Reminder to self to be nice to them The surprise was when I opened it and all these little sticks fell out, Moose had said he was selling a Mikado

    MikadoP.jpg

Luckily, buried under many candy goodies was the real thing

    IMG_1717 (2).jpg IMG_1719 (2).jpg

As seen, I put her to work straight away. She purred around my layout like a little kitten. Unfortunately and, as I had been warned, (of no fault of the Mooses) This thing pulls about as strongly as a baby kitten too ! Ten cars max on the flat before she spins her drivers. But, as planned, I have no intention of keeping her as she is. She will be hacked and chopped into something completely different and stuffed with lead. Here she is about to go under the knife

    IMG_1722 (2).jpg

I nearly passed out when I saw the cost of the postage that the Mooses had so kindly wavered. Thank you both, you're real stars

Give me a week to get myself together and then I'll start another steamer build thread
    Thanks, Tom

    Tom,

Mr & Mrs Moose very very very glad that your package arrived all safe and sound! Little concerned about the wee bits of candy ... Don't forget, the 'fridge magnet goes to a wee person - repeat after Moose: "I will not keep the 'fridge magnet. It is for a wee person. I will happily and graciously hand it to a wee person. I will eat all of the chocolate though. I am Tom. I cannot change. Even if I have too. The chocolate is mine!"

At least Tony the Wombat will keep his safe and sound. Phew!

I will try and see how much lead I can fittle into the rebuild and if that doesn't do it then I'll look into traction tyres. But, all that fun is for a later date. victor miranda doesn't know it yet but he's going to give me lots of good advice !!!

Chocolat will be sampled with my after lunch cup of coffee. Thank you both
    Thanks, Tom
