    Default April 1st

Sorry, no April fools story this year. The Fairy's too busy sprinkling fairy dust on my ailments ! BUT, she's still at large , so the rest of you, just behave yourselves

    Thanks, Tom

This is the 19th anniversary of No-Trak, the modular society based on NTrak and HOTrak, but models abandoned rights of way become bike paths.

David Popp and I conceived the idea for the April 2001 issue of Model Railroader, but almost didn't get green-lighted due to former publisher Russ Larson's reluctance.

Turns out our April Fool's idea was a bit too convincing. We got a couple letters chastising us for "ruining" the hobby, and I fielded a phone call from an earnest reader wanting to know where the second annual No-Trak national convention would be held.

The first, in 2001, was held at Point No Point, Wash., a name which everyone thought was a joke as well -- until they checked a map.

Definitely a name to keep in mind for a town/station/industry.

"Point No Point. Home of the No-Trak modular association."
"Point No Point Furniture. No Sharp Edges."
    "Point No Point Needlework."
"Point No Point Off-the-Job Training. Straight to the Point."

Been thinking about switching to S-scale traction, maybe the P&N in the 1930s. Lots of opportunity for scratch building.

Just bought enough T scale track to fill my train room with all the rail lines of Bavaria. Should be able to do from Bamberg to München and on to the Alps. Looking forward to building the Zugspitzbahn!

    (Not TT scale; T= 1:450)

Geeeeezus Mark! I was freaking out and then realized it's the April 1st thread.

(I open each thread with separate tabs on my browser and work my way bottom up. Sometimes when I have a lot opened I lost track of what the tab subjects are.)

There could be some truth to that. I heard that only pictures of, or containing, diesels were now permissible

I heard something a bit like that, too, except it was that @Moose2013 caused a massive server crash last night posting photos of all the diesels he'd stashed and discovered during his recent "Operation Pleasant Place" cleanup and reorganization.

Now preparing to "shelter in place" in advance of an impending stampede. ...

Late to the party, but we had a "moose free" April 1st surprise. Woke up to discover that the clock had turned back a month to March 1st, and it was a white day! And the section gang still was out there working and wondering what the....?
