    Default Who made these ... ??

    Afternoon all, I have had these little passenger cars for some time and was wondering who made them. There are NO manufacturer markings on them or identifying numbers.

    I suspect they are bachmann and were bought for my wife's' small layout in a moment of sheer, unadulterated and inexplicable insanity

    All I remember is they came in a set ....
    Cheers Tony

    @spyder62

    Thanks Rich ... none of mine have any markings at all I'm afraid which is why I suspect they are bachmann. That being said, do you have either the bachmann or (preferably) the Roundhouse Cars for sale or are they your personal cars?
    Cheers Tony

    As Mark's site will show you, those are Athearn/MDC 36-foot "Overton" cars.

    They are expensive -if you can find them. All old time cars are expensive at the moment, even the Bachman cars. Don't sell them Tony.

    Thanks everyone for your input. I was hoping to buy another set of what I have BUT am unable to find any any where resulting in me buying 4 Atlas 60' coaches instead and will just use them for the current layout. Word has it that the atlas 60' cars will negotiate 9.75" radius so they should work okay as my radii is no less than 11" and I will be able to repaint them as needed

    Russ, believe me, I have no intention of selling the ones I already have

    I wish Athearn would make some more (along with their Overland cars). Only game in town and they haven't made any for, what, 10 years? 15 years? 20 years? I dunno, it's been quite a while.

    Yep, they would sell well if rerun. I ended up buying a small fleet of Rapido old timers at the right price. They're not bad and the trucks are acceptable.

    Yup those Atlas cars have no issue negoticing 9.75" and don't look bad doing it (considering the tight radius). I only have Atlas RPOs, baggage cars & an observation (all pre-ordered undecorated) as a few years ago I accumulated a bunch of Bachmann 60' Harriman (?) UP coaches & combines rather cheap off ebay. The B-manns needed MT trucks & I ditched the lighting but once everything was painted & decalled it made for IMO a very nice train that looks OK on train set curves.

    Sorry that I got a little off topic but its nice that from time to time the manufactures realize that not all of us that want to run passenger trains have room for 18" curves.

    Be safe everyone
