    Default Souris Valley Model Railroad Association (SVMRA)

    Hello all,

    It’s been a while since I’ve been on, but I wanted to share what I’ve been doing for the past 6 years. I moved and no longer have room for a model railroad in my home, so I joined the SVMRA.

    The club Is located in Minot, ND and has an N scale layout in the basement of the Minot Railroad museum. The layout occupies 3 rooms, the first measuring 23’x24’, the second adjoining room measuring 31’x17’ and a third room which contains the staging yard for the layout which is 10’x14’.

    The first or “main” room has 567 feet of track. We have not checked the second room yet and the staging yard is just being finished. Our first room is set in the Dakota’s and has an oil loading terminal, grain elevators and a coal fired power plant. Our second room is set in the osark’s with the final wall being a major port facility like New Orleans. The second room features an oil refinery, A container ship, a large truck stop And a large port grain elevator.

    The Souris Valley is a modern regional railroad With trackage rights on the BNSF and the KCS.

    I’ll get some pictures posted soon as I don’t have any currently to post.

    And another reason to head for Minot rears up. What kind of schedule for visits is there?
    Northern Pacific and Black Hills RR in N, of course!!
    Aian, CEO, COO, Engineer, Gopher and everything else!

    We are not currently open due to the virus situation and the rules for opening. Under normal circumstances we are open on Saturday from 10am - 2pm.

    we have also opened up for arranged private visits.
