Bachmann likes to use the "post" when mounting trucks.I think you are on the right track................you need to drill the hole in the truck out so it fits over the post, and then use the original screw to hold it on. I can't tell from your pictures, but it sounds like you have some interference going on somewhere. Based on your comment of "the rear wheels do not sit on the track", I'd guess the coupler is hitting on the frame pushing that end of the truck down and making the other end lift up. On an MT car, they make shims (they come with the trucks) you can put between the frame and the truck , but those won't work with the Bachmann post. You'll need to find something else to use. A side view picture of the car, with the trucks attached would be helpful here. The MT trucks should be 00303021.

i Think ive found that problem. the post where the truck sits on is worn out , because on the other end of that same car they fit just fine. ive filed it away a bit and it fits now nice and flat. lesson learned DONT buy used rolling stock no more. most of the used stuff off flea bay is worn out . every one of my cars i bought used and just about every one has been worn out one way or the other. wheels , car frames, ect ect.
