Default Hand Laid ======= Star ?

20200930_220923.jpg So what do you guys think of this? It will only have one track entering it , the rest will have 12" long sidings on them. Should I build it?

Sounds like you just want to see if you can do it, and in that case go for it! Iím sure you could find an easier way to get storage for 8-12 cars if you wanted to!

If you don't have anything better to do and want to see if you can do it / use it to advertise your track laying skills, go for it.

If you actually want to use it, I don't see a use case. Even tram tracks usually are not that complex, and they mostly are double tracked.

    Just my 2 cents,
    Heiko

So far I've done one crossing...

    http://1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/Trackwork/page-16.html

.... and it was a lot harder than the turnouts with all the short guard rails and especially trying to get the gaps all in, not sure it is right at this moment. I'll probably do another at some point but don't look forward to it.

I'll look forward to the finished product and like most of the others if you want to build it.....do it,

I know you can do it, but what are you going to do with it??
It would be a good demo of what can be done with scratchbuilt trackwork.

If the railroad Wye is the equivalent of a three point turn....this is the equivalent of “that guy” making a 5 point turn.

This would be neat to automate. Automate the points and engine movement and just have it traverse the star on repeat. Would make for a neat neat conversation piece at a show set up on its own diorama.

I'm not allowed to run the train, the whistle I can't blow. I'm not allowed to say how fast the Railroad Train can go.
I'm not allowed to shoot off steam, nor even clang the bell. But let the damned Train jump the track, and see who catches hell!

A great advertisement for custom turnouts, too.
