Hi everyone newbie to the site just getting back into hobby after 30 years . I am wanting to start a small n scale layout but very over whelmed by all this dcc stuff . Was thinking to start with DC stuff to begin ? Maybe kato ? I did use atlas track back in the day and had pretty good luck I just hate the big switch machines. Hmm what to buy? This a great site by the way.

Received this in the mail today:

    Recognize the packaging?

It was a typical case of "this I need, this I want..."

    This triggered the order:

    This is the total order:

Dumpsters, extractors / separators, AC condensor, scissor lifts, corrugated sheet metal roller:

Heavy duty shelving, picnic tables, fork lift:

Pallets, beer / coke crates (singles and stacks) and beer kegs:

Assortment of crates, sacks and IBCs as well as even more pallets and hand jacks:

Propane bottes and crates for them:

Thanks to all you guys giving me input about where to find great stuff on Shapeways in my recent thread,
    Heiko

I kind of wonder what you paid for all of that... My guess is that you could have bought your own 3D printer for less than that order cost. Of course not all of the models you got would be available as free STL's and there is the cost of time printing it all, finding files and drawing STLs to consider. Cool purchase though if you are happy with it. Very exciting!

Yes, the cost of that entire order was probably in the ballpark range of the cheapest FDM printer kits.

But aside from the time and workshop space I don't want to spend on another machine, they also make details down to 0.1mm (walls down to 0.3mm), which I guess will need at least ten times the invest of the cheapest FDM printers. And many of those parts profit from that kind of detail level.

    YMMV,

And while I was at it and shipping was paid anyway, I picked up some tweezers and a "third hand".

This coupler assembly kit from micro trains and a 4’x3’ map of the Missouri Pacific system came in the mail. Yes, I had a lot of wheelset couplers to repair from my cars. Using the jig is uncommon for the wheel sets. They are mainly for body mounts. I knocked out three sets within 2hrs.

Won some auctions. Scored well on three (possibly a fourth in a partially hidden bag) Nn3 Republic Locomotive Works conversion kits, a Marklin chassis, extra wheels, etc. Should be enough to do at least one conversion, a C&S 2-6-0 from what I can tell in the photos. I don't HAVE any narrow gauge, but maybe now I have to do something about that. Or just mess with it for fun.

Nice set, @SteamPower4ever! Does the Speisewagen have lighted table lamps? I have a similar set, but the table lamps can only be seen if all the lights in the room are off.

    My latest buys.
    20210117_193117.jpg
From my LHS, Kato track for the latest sections being built. Benchwork under construction. I took his only two #6 turnouts and ordered two more. He generally orders more when I order, to try to build up his stock of Kato. Unfortunately, he tells me there has been an price increase from Kato since the first of the year. The microbrushes and brush cleaner are from Kalmbach's hobby store. The cleaner is to try to take better care of my better brushes. Cheers all and stay safe. Maurice

N Scale got so expensive, I decided to order a new Mercedes Benz last September (sold 16 acres of river access to neighboring ranch in Wyoming). Picked car up this morning. Went Crazy, but it is more fun than Choo Choos.Click image for larger version.
