    Default Thoughts on Paint Scheme

    As I am "trying" to get back into the hobby proper I started designing (or attempting to design) a paint scheme for my engines. I think my future layout will be Australian based for something different so am playing around with this scheme:

    Thoughts, impressions etc etc etc ??

    I personally like it. Do you get the Australia National and Kangaroo stripe made as a decal?

    I think it looks great. The only suggestion I'd make would be to try making the stripe the same color as the text and the kangaroo. This is a really cool paint scheme.

    The green stripe will be painted but the Roo and the Text will be decals.

    I like it. How about the green as horizontal stripes on the nose front and sides.

    Love the logo and text , love the colors , but not fond of the stripe , don't no what it is , too bulky or something else.

    That looks great Tony. Since AN is no longer around, you could do as you please. That scheme shouldn't be too hard to do, perhaps the rear of the hood can be green too, to reduce the masking.

    I would suggest moving the diagonal stripe back a bit and enlarging the text and logo maybe 10% to 15%, as I think the actual decal will be hard to read at this size. You might not be able to make out the 'Roo shape. And I think the compositional balance will be better, too. I guess you should consider what your smallest loco will be and make sure the text and bubble can fit on it, not go too large.

    I like the paint scheme but I agree with @Janbouli that something is off with the stripe. I think you should try reducing the thickness of it by about half and see how that looks.

    Thanks mate but I was only joking about having someone to do the paint; although, I am a little worried about painting circles or "round bits" and getting them actually round and/or looking like circles?

    Tony, why not have have your kangaroo logo decal incorporate the circle around the logo, matching the color to what you will paint the stripe and the rest of the locomotive?

    @Moose2013

    That is a thought and very well worth considering. If I get this done, I'll be using the guy you used for the decals so if he can match (perfectly) the paint color (Tamiya NATO Green) then that would be the perfect (and easiest) option
    Cheers Tony

    Okay, so after taking all of the opinions into account, and before reading @Moose2013 post, this is another idea:

    I think this looks a bit "tougher" looking, appropriate for a diesel loco?

    He would probably sell you a printed paint chart of select PMS colors and ask you to select a specific PMS color from said paint chart that best matched the color that you need.

    PMS = Pantone Matching System.
