    Default Mi-Jack Paint Color Mix

I tried searching through to find the color mix for the Mi Jack crane. It looks like Caterpillar yellow. I tried a few color mixes with no luck. I hate to keep using up paint to try and match it. I am using Nail Art acrylic paint. Leftovers from wife's business. Here are some pics.
Edit: I can't seem to upload pics from my phone. I will attempt the upload after loading Pics on the computer.

How close a match are you looking for? If you accept as "real enough" whatever color the pixels on your screen are showing you, any flat yellowish works. If you are looking for an exact match, Rustoleum makes a spray paint. Or https://www.myperfectcolor.com/paint...rpillar-yellow. Or create sample swatches from your paint and visit the local CAT rental store. You have to hold the swatches next to the actual surface, same angle, same lighting.

I ended up using Testor's yellow. Not accurate but nobody will notice once you weather it.

Let's see if this upload worked. I tried everything I could to either rotate or delete the larger image. As you can see I had no luck.

Edit: I deleted the photos and will keep trying.

You are probably right on the 'close enough' statement. I might be overthinking this a bit much. Thanks for the reply.

Posting pics, take 7,8, and 9....
I have tried and tried and I can't get the image to load in the right orientation. I have set the image size to the same 800x1422 size that I used on all my other pictures. No luck. I make the image as small as possible, no luck. I have read the instructions. no luck. I made a new album and posted all 10 new pictures to it, all 10 pictures appeared rotated 90 degrees. I could not find any way to rotate them back. I'm not Johnny Tech but I have never had this much trouble with images. Calling any Moderator....what am I doing or not doing????

Don't overthink it, railroads barely care, there have been times I've been at work, boss man hands me a can of rust-oleum and tells me to cover the graffiti on a locomotive. First time he did I questioned if it matched, his reply was "It's white, paint on the locomotive is white, we're good"

That is hilarious.....I ended up mixing a new batch of paint and I will use your quote..."we're good". I will post some pics no matter how they are rotated. I thought I got it pretty close.
If anybody has any Nail Art acrylic paint, here is the mixture for Caterpillar Yellow I used for the airbrush.
    Yellow: 35 Drops
    Sunset Orange 1 Drop
    Cloud White 10 Drops
    Water 4 Drops

First 2 pics are the first tries...
The last 3 pics is how it will stay.
I still need to put decals on and weather it.
Still not sure why pics are rotated 90 degrees to the left. No political statements here.

Just couldn't let it go could you. I probably wouldn't either truth be told. That new mix does look spot on though.

    Hi everyone
While it's true that some tasks at work may seem trivial, it's important to maintain a level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Depending on the era you are modeling and the age of the Mi-Jack matching the factory color may be the wrong tack.

Many yellows are notorious for fading very fast. Before the sixties this was very apparent. Artificial pigments and UV protection were introduced during the 60s and 70s that made the paints less prone to fading. With the exception of Zeto Yellow, more recent paints are more durable.

Plus you have to add the scale factor. Remember, you have to multiply your actual distance 160 time to get the scale distance you see. At two feet (fairly close up) you are 320 (s)ft away. There will be a slight amount of natural atmospheric fading. So, you need to add slightly more white, than you would in a side by side comparison.

Remember, yellows in particular fade under UV light. So if you're a bit light, no worries. And give it some weathering -- just a simple thin India ink wash will tone things down.

If you really want a perfect match, head to a good paint store and see if they have some spare industrial paint chips for Caterpillar.
