Continuing my uncharacteristically modern trend, I got three Arnold sliding wall freights cars. Again common types on the nearby main line ...

More fir trees. The mountain terrain is finished, except for foliage. As you can see, the stand of firs at the base of the mountain is incomplete, so I ordered more from N Scale Supply.

Arriving today are two more brew kettles for the brewery.

Apropos of my latest two posts in the Alpenbahn thread, you can see the small transfer building that I tried in the last blank spot on the layout. Obviously does not fit.

What I want to buy is a little gizmo that easily fits into my steam locos and produces REALISTIC looking steam by the bucket load. In this 'high tec' age shorly that's not toooooo much to ask ? What's the point of having all those fancy DCC sounds when clouds of steam are the most dramatic thing about steam trains !

Someone needs to pull their finger out
    Thanks, Tom

Expect nothing except the opposite of what you expect, and then expect it to be something other than that ! Then that's about what it will be

    Show me.

Kathy suggested some kind of vaping device in the tender, with a tiny tube to the stack. How many of us have seen the clouds of vaping smoke billowing out the window of a car?

Roco has made the German class 10 steamer with dynamic smoke synced to the wheel revs.

It's smoke fluid based, I think, and while it's a good effort, it still looks silly IMO ... and that's H0.

A much better system is by TRS which I just discovered while searching for the Roco BR10. The system is water based, and it seems real steam has better properties than smoke fluid. It's 00 scale, but by far the best I've seen outside of large scale.

Don't know if the same tech can be used in N scale, but I'd ask TRS ... but now we're straying from the thread topic

So my wife and I stopped in a little pizza and grocery store for lunch Sunday. This place has always had a bookshelf of used books for sale, but I just could't believe what I found on it this time:

Placed an order with DM Toys. Various buffers, a Tomix cleaning car, and some 3D stone wall applique.

What in the world does a person need all these buffer stops for? Allaying boredom? I have a few places on the Alpenbahn layout where I could use about 6 buffers. Then, on the Rheinland-Bayern Bahn layout, the yard extension that involves the Bonn Hauptbahnhof could really use some upgrades and variety - modernizing - on about 8 terminal tracks.
