Moose slowly making progress towards finishing six -- count'em -- six MoW cars this weekend ... Actually, Moose started a flatcar MoW car this morning, so it's actually seven MoW cars in the works. Yipe!

Just a sneak-peak as Moose probably won't finish them this weekend, sooo many other things to do...

First of the decals being applied:

Hoping to get my Bachmann 2-8-0 to look a lot more like a Southern Pacific loco...

Still a work in progress...the loco to the left is an Oriental Limited brass model.

I made a little more progress on my DCC circuit breakers. It's not the prettiest thing I've ever done, but nobody will see it anyway.

I got one of these little cube cameras from my local CVS as a thank you for my patronage, and thought came to me, why not stick it on a flatcar and run it around the layout, that'd be cool! I mean what else am I going to use it for?
So here is a video of my test run. I need to set the format and I have to do some trimming at a tunnel entrance, and pay a little more attention as to how I place it on the flatcar as it is just slightly wider than said car, and will also contact some trees and rocks but all in all pretty cool.

    Default 1st Weathering attempt

I did not have much modeling time, but while shopping for a few Christmas decorations, I stumbled upon some alcohol based markers at Michael's Crafts. I figured they may be ok for weathering. I have never weathered any of my rolling stock before, so I thought an experiment may be in order. Here are a few cars I did on Saturday evening as my first ever weathering attempt. I still need to work on the roofs, trucks and wheels, but I was satisfied with the experiment, using the alcohol based markers.

I went rummaging through my old detail parts collection and I found a Detail Associates Sunbeam headlight and a strange round disc, the disc became the oil hatch, and the light is on the back of the tender! I also learned how difficult it is to make a 2mm square for that cab's roof vent. Next I shaved the cab side, and added more putty to get rid of the divot in the boiler. She is rough, but looking right for the job.
