Well I returned the BWL NW2 switcher since it ran erratic at slow speeds and made a grinding noice. I bought a brand new Model Power 2-6-0 Mogul with DCC and sound from eBay. I'm just waiting for the post office to deliver it. Moose will be proud that I have more steam than diesel locomotives.

    The 2-6-0 Mogul came today.

Unfortunately the rear coupler was broke so I have to fix that. It looks good and runs well after having to adjust some settings. It would not move until I had my Digitrax throttle at 17 as it was. I had to really adjust the starting voltage up for it to work like it should and start moving at speed step 1. I'll have to wait until the replacement coupler gets here to test pulling power. Needless to say, I'm definitely not impressed with the MRC decoder or the sound. If it pulls good, then I might look at drilling some small holes in the tender to help with the low sound levels.

I've been a bad, bad boy. If she catches me I'm in trouble.

26 Tank cars, 5 Auto racks, and two SD40-2's(w/sound).

Add that to some other items this year so far and we could have redone a bathroom.

It sure would be easier to hide on a layout so I guess I best get to building.

Preordered a couple of the ScaleTrains new SD40-2s. December before I actually get my hands on them, but something to look forward to!

Is that why there's no pictures ?

You forgot to tell her that the old bathroom is the new train room?

Trix announced this train for release in the autumn of 2018. I placed my order on April 8, 2019. The 5 car set of the 1962 Rheingold train came 3 months later. Not bad for a pre-order.

Trix, however, kept postponing the release date for this E-Lok. It finally arrived yesterday!

This is the E10, later renumbered BR 110, that pulled the all first class Rheingold from Utrecht, Netherlands, to Basel, Switzerland (A Dutch Lok pulled the train from Hoek van Holland to Utrecht).

The Trix model runs well and smoothly. The printing is crisp and the sound is clear.....except for two period station announcements. Those two are either original recordings or great reproductions, because they are totally unintelligible. Talk about authentic!

One complaint about sound chips in Trix engines: one cannot adjust the volume of various functions separately. There is one overall volume control. Fleischmann, at least, allows individual volume control.

All in all a nice little E-Lok!

Wow, the E10 didn't arrive until now?
I have the Hobbytrain E10 for my Rheingold, so I haven't been paying attention, but that's a long time for Trix ...

I thought it was an excessively long time, too, @SteamPower4ever. It is not as though I missed a first production run, either. Trix just kept postponing the production. What really wound me up was buying the passenger cars, and then not knowing whether Trix would ever make the engine.

Now, have you seen the proposed BR 103 with sound, with the ability to raise and lower pans? Yes, in N scale! And yeah, I pre-ordered that, also. Some people never learn.

I finally picked up a set of the General Electric More Power to America Special PA units. I had been hoping to find them at a show, but ended up making an offer on these that popped up on eBay and was able to come to an agreeable price for them. The question is not to dcc, but to dcc with sound?!

Now I just need to finish up a few more projects to be able to work on the consist that these pulled.

I'm not allowed to run the train, the whistle I can't blow. I'm not allowed to say how fast the Railroad Train can go.
I'm not allowed to shoot off steam, nor even clang the bell. But let the damned Train jump the track, and see who catches hell!

Thanks. These trains were such a actual pleasure.
Reading the headlines, it almost feels like the airlines are experiencing deja v the railroads felt in the '60's.

Since I had a store credit with Train World, I ordered 4 BLI Norfolk and Western hoppers to go with the NS 2-6-0. I ended up putting the front coupler on the tender of the 2-6-0 so I could run it. I can say the eBay seller was nice and refunded me the cost of buying a replacement coupler. While I will keep the MRC/Model Power 2-6-0, I am not very impressed with how it operates or with its pulling power.

    Anyway, here they are:
